.pn-' 6 kf. Social, science, math studies enrich students Due to a new law, Marana's Adaptive Education department broadened into a well-developed classroom situation. Students take math, science, English and other classes, with a focus on the needs of that individual. Math and science departments experienced an all-time high in the enrollment of advanced classes. The departments plan to formulate new advanced classes in the near future to meet stu- dent demand. Teachers in the social studies field were new or returning, with these teachers came new ideas to interest their pupils in their subjects. 1. Mr. Calkins and Ms. Cutler assist in counseling. 2. Mr. Videbeck lectures on the basics of history. 3. Mrs. Ward grades students' papers. 4. Mr. Catt gleams about a varsity win. 5. Mrs. Maycher helps Lori Brant and Mike Foster with a difficult algebra problem. 6. Mr. Sawyer and two photo-journalism students, Kirk Cazee and Mike Schall, study the fundamentals of still photography. 7. Classes develop communications Elsie Mann Sherry Vaughn Arva Resley Yvonne Merrill Cary Chestnut Cynthia Mancini Shari Plamann Cheryl Clausen Kay Ludeke 14 Academics While this year's English, Spanish and business classes worked diligently to teach students grammar and secretarial skills, the Music Department stressed appreciation for the fine arts. To avoid confusion and disruptions in the library, the south pod of the auditorium was opened for students who only wished to get out of the heat or cold of the day, and talk about daily news. The library was then left for those students who wished to read or study. 1. Miss Plamann takes time out to grade papers. 2. Mrs. Ludeke, Donnine Pierson and Lori Patton work out problems with some yearbook pages. 3. Mrs. Vaughn talks with a student about an English assignment. 4. Mrs. Holoway cheerfully instructs her class on typing skills. 5. Mr. Grissom gets a taste of cream pie at a pep assembly. 6.
