Administration faces overcrowding problem Overcrowding in the Maranas district was one of many problems faced by the school board and admin- istration this year. The total district had a 6.2 percent gain over last year. The high school itself had a 10.7 percent gain from May to September. The cost to provide space for all Marana students, which required a bond election, is !Sl,470,000. In order to meet the rising enrollment at the high school, the school board and administrators proposed additional facilities. Included in the proposals were vo- cational shops and a land lab to provide for added enrollment. The cost of these additions were estimat- ed at S575,000. Additional problems tackled by the school board and administration were medical insurance, student tar- dies and institution of a new grading system. 1. Dr. Havens, superintendent, works diligently on forms. 2. This year's school board members are Fred Hill, Harry Hansen, Max Green, Daniel Post and Brad DeSpain. 3. Dr. Foster pauses in the library to think about proposals made by students. 4. Mr. Miller approves student activities requisitions. 5. Deans McLean and Saltzman discuss the good results of a displinary problem. 6. Mrs. Douglas and Mrs. Hiatt discuss possibilities for courses next semes- ter, during a brainstorming session.
