embarrassing moment was when I almost got knocked out in the team room! I was in IV and V Volleyball, V Softball, V Basketball, an active member of the Pink Zone, Pep Club, and S Club. My philosophy is: Happy are those who dream dreams and are willing to pay the price to make them come true. I'll never forget my fellow pink zoners or O.B. A special thank you to Mr. B.M. Mike Rucker - fRuckj I like foot- ball, baseball, high hysterics, spend- ini time with jenny. My most memo- ra le time was 1980 varsity baseball season, 1980 Marian football game, Pony League Dance, 1978. I'll never forget having to miss my senior year in Football, and playing Frisbee on the beach with jenny. My greatest accomplishment was being a mem- ber of the Best High School Baseball team in the history of San Diego. I was in Key Club, QSF 3 yrs.,j, Baseball Backers, 2 yrs. Varsity Baseball 3 yrs., Varsity Football, 2 yrs., Varsity Club, 3 yrs. Philosophy: To seek out new civilizations and boldly go where no man has gone before. Andrew Ruthenburg - fAndy, Nip- perj I like wrestling, coin collecting, track, eating, and people. My most memorable time was the 1981 wres- tling season, all my friends and the people of MVH, and 1980-81 ASB. I'll never forget the time when john Bar- nett ran into me in front of the Snack Shack and all the good times at MVH. I plan to go to an Engineering school or a Marketing school, then pursue one of the careers. My great- est accomplisment in school was let- tering in wrestling and holding an office of Commissionership in ASB. My most embarrassing moment was picking up my books after john Bar- nett ran into me and having a bird dive bomb on my lunch. I was in 10, 11, 12 Wrestling, Skippers Club 11, Track 12, ICC 12, and Varsity Club. My philosophy is No matter what, give everything your best shot. Thanks to my parents, my friends, and all of the teachers for putting up with me! Ieannine Rutherford - fNinaj I enjoy traveling, walking on the beach and visiting with friends. Most memorable - was coming back to I.B. after 4 yrs. and everyone remem- bering me. Philosophy - Today is the first day of the rest of your life. jeff Scanlon - fScamlonj Likes par- ties, cars, ladies, and surfing. Won't forget - Trish Combs. Most embar- rassing moment -- Quitting school. Clubs - Surf, Philosophy - Do unto others as you would want them to do to you. Sharon Selke - fD.B.J I like swim- ming, all sports, the beach, good friends, and walking my dog. My most memorable time, throwing M 8: M's with friends, and being with M.R.S. I'll never forget Cindy and Cathy and Marina, all my other friends, and most of all Michael. I plan to go to college, become an accountant, and live happily ever after. My greatest accomplishment was graduating. Most embarrassing: when my shorts got caught on the basketball cart and ripped in front of the whole class. I was in basketball, M 8: M throwing contest. Chris Sison - fTerrij I enjoy meet- ing people and making friends. I like to eat, sleep and party and I love rock and going to concerts. I also enjoy being a beach bum and watch- ing sunsets. I'll never forget all the good times with T.L.R., S.P., L.K., O.B., D.K., j.P., C.D. Keep the good times rollin'! I'll never forget being a part of the MV girls' varsity tennis team for 2 years. I plan to travel travel travel fEuropej, to go to college in the field of computers. I'd like nothing better than to get rich! Great- est accomplishment was making it through '81 and receiving the coaches trophy. I was in Girls' League, S Club, Pep Club, IV Girls' Tennis, and Manager of Boys' Tennis Team. Philosophy: Strive for the best, keep your head high, and don't let the bad times get you down. Class of '81 - we're the greatest! Hi, mom! Thanks Burke, I love you! David Stallings - CWimpy Hippyj I like playing guitar, running, eating. Most memorable time was Mt. San Antonio College Invitational with Cross Country team, lunchtime dances CThanks Mrs. R and S.R.j, winning CIF. I'll never forget when we were cooking burritos and Mondo asked us how to heat up the tortilla. I plan to study electronics and keep practicing music. My great- est accomplishment was the cross country team winning CIF. Most embarrassing time: when S. Montz tried to pants me but only split the seam down the front of my shorts. I was active in track, cross country. Philosophy: Don't worry about life because if you wait, things will turn out all right. Sharon Swinney - I like funny peo- ple, poetry, ballet, lightening, the moon, halloween, japanese art, anti- que clothes, Heart, Bruce Springs- teen and Stevie Nicks. Most memora- ble times with Adam, Letty, Ann, Celeste, Doris, Missy, Ioan, Sandra, Clyde and Sherry. I'll never forget the summer of '79 and Rosarito. Most embarrassing moment was being asked by Mr. Kuhn to demonstrate levitation for the class. Philosophy: You are you, and I am me, yet noth- ing's what it seems to be. I dislike hypocrites and MVH which is really the same thing. Robert Tankersley - fBob, Tankj I like sports, fast cars, crazy women, Photography, Rock-N-Roll, and hav- ing the best of times. I will never for- get the time I had a fight with M.M. behind the bleachers. I'll always remember the times when we went to Nodo, and the Dell. I plan to go to S.W. and major in Photography and see how it goes. My most embarras- ing moment was at the mustangs wrestling tournament. My philoso- phy is live today, remember the past and dream of the future. I'd like to thank my teachers and Mr. G. and all my friends. Stacy Tarverfox - fAcej I like sail- ing, cold, rainy nights by the fire drinking hot chocolate. Most momentous moment was my honey- moon in Palm Springs. I'll never for- get the summer of '79 with Doris and all the partying we did while mom and pop were gone, and meeting Butch. I plan to become a bank teller, and make Butch the happiest hus- band in the world. Greatest accom- plishment was getting married and finishing school. Most embarrassing was going to the wrong bank to deposit money. I was in Pep Club, Photo Club, Annual Staff, Copy! Layout Editor. My philosophy is to live each day to the fullest, because there may be no tomorrow. Thanks, Mom 8: Dad for all the love and sup- port you've always given me. Robert Tavares - I like playing most sports, having good friends, being out of school, and most of all, living as God directs. My most memorable times were Sweethearts '81 and spending lunch times talking with friends. I'll never forget the dear friends which I have made. I intend to go to college, UCSD and possibly get a career in one of the sciences and become independently wealthy. My greatest accomplishment was my- achievement of CSF Life member. Philosophy: With a little hope and determination, as well as a lot of help from God, anything is possible. I owe a great deal to the magnificent fac- ulty at MVH without whom I would now probably be lost as to my direc- tion in life. I humbly thank you for all of your dedication and concern. and crazy times with Teresa. I'll never forget the love and the trust of my best friends, Carol, Cynthia, Linda and Cathy. I plan to attend col- lege, get a good job and get rich, then maybe marry and raise a family. My greatest accomplishment is graduat- ing. My most embarrassing moment was falling in front of Scott and call- ing Tiger Kitty. I was in Letterettes 1111, Surf Club 1121. My philosophy is If you have something good, don't ever let it go because some day you'll regret it. Michael Peterson -1MIP1 I like surf- ing, camping, off-roading, laughing, eating harvey dogs at MVHS football games. My most memorable times were W.B. Mills' core class. I'll never forget senior ditch day, getting a C in ASB. My future plans are to go to a university and get an education, then to hang out under the pier. My greatest accomplishment was discov- ering Interferon. My most embar- rassing moment was saying the pledge for the first time. I was in Wrestling 19, 10, 11, 121, CSF Life 19, 10, 11, 121, Tennis 1101, Baseball Man- ager 191, ASB President 1121, Water Polo 1121. My philosophy is If you take everything seriously you'll die of an ulcer. Hi, mom! Elizabeth Pinedo -1Liz1 I like to job and meet new people and visit other countries. I will never forget how my parents did the best for me. I plan to join the Navy. My greatest accom- plishment was when I won a medal of honor cadet in my NIROTC class. I was in volleyball and swimming. My philosophy is: I think that everyone should do the best for their own good. Clara Pope - I like vacations far away, sunsets, meeting people. My most memorable time was Home- coming. I'll never forget my friends I encountered at Mar Vista. I plan on going to college, owning a black Cor- vette. My greatest accomplishment is coping with people. My most embar- rassing moment was explaining to my mom I wasn't the one who put the centerfold on the board. I was in Pep Club 111, 121, Softball, IV. My philosophy is I can do anything if I put forth the effort. Thanks, mom, for being there when I needed you. And special thanks to Mrs. Sernaf' Shelina Powell - 1Shelly, Tiny1 I like sports, dancing, being with my friends, camping, and being crazy. My most memorable time was the tennis party 1girls1. I'll never forget my friends P.R., L.R., C.S., K.M., N.P. I plan to go to Southwestern Ir. Gol- lege and become an accountant, and become a sky diver. My most embar- rassing moment was when my dress blew up and my hands were full. I was in Golden Girls, Skippers, and on the Varsity Tennis Team. Thanks, mom and dad, for helping me get through school. Roger Quinones - 1Rock 'N Roll Roger1 I like good food, girls, and rock 81 roll. I'll never forget K.H. and all the good times at MV with friends. I plan to go to college, be with C.R. and keep on rockin'. My greatest accomplishment was com- pleting Varsity Football. I was in baseball, IV Football, Varsity Foot- ball, IV Track, Varsity Track. My philosophy is Find something you like to do and stay with it! Thanks to everyone at MV for all the good times. Special thanks to C.R. Keep on rockin'. David Ramirez - I like going to par- ties and concerts. My most memora- ble time was when we took Metro for wrestling. I'll never forget D.M., D.L.T., Archer Brothers, Rabbit 1Lopez1, Opie1Ioe1, L.C., L.P. I plan to go to college, maybe the Air Force. My greatest accomplishment was taking Metro. My most embarrassing moment was getting beat by little Archer in wrestling. I was in Foot- ball, Wrestling, Golf, Surfing, Row- ing in a Canoe. My philosophy is: You only live once so 'Party I-Iearty! ' I would like to thank all the teachers and especially the coaches. GOOD LUCK, MV WRESTLERS NEXT YEAR! Charles Ratcliff - 1Charlie Brown, Charlie1 I like girls, rock 8: roll, run- ning, and being with my closest friends. Tina Bigwood, and Mary Ann Sorianosos. My most memora- ble time was meeting all my friends and having a good time at parties and dances. I will never forget meet- ing my best friend in 9th grade, Tina Bigwood. I plan to be a very success- ful businessman, to join the military. Maybe get married - 2 kids. My greatest accomplishment was finish- ing high school and to pursue a col- lege education. My most embarrass- ing moment was when I fell down in a cross country. I was in Cross Coun- try and Track. Philosophy: Take one day at a time, and live it up. Daniel Ray - 1Duray1 I like beach life, girl watching, parties, concerts. My most memorable time was Sweethearts, Graduation night. I'll never forget the night in Coronado. My plans are to kick back, get rich. Greatest accomplishment is graduat- ing. I was in the Carolina Kids. My philosophy is: Be one step ahead of the cops. Independent studies is the way to go but try to stick it out till your senior year. It is the best year. Patricia Reynolds - 1Trish1 I like being with my boyfriend, acting crazy with my sister and friends, and gabbing with people. My most mem- orable experience was meeting Mark. I'll never forget all my great friends at MV: C.S., L.R., K.M., N.P. and S.P., and all the people in ASB. I plan to go to college, get rich, and go to New York with Chris. My greatest accomplishment was becoming Valedictorian of the senior class. My most embarrassing moment was get- ting a ticket in 11th grade for doing illegal turning movements in my car. I was in ASB, Skippers, Pep Club, Choir, School Newspaper, and CSF. My philosophy is: Never let anybody run your life - do your own thing! Mrs. Moore, thanks for letting me work for you in the office, you're a great person. And thanks to Mr. Mills for teaching me something. I-Ii, Mom and Dad! Linda Ritchey - 1Spider1 I like to cook, bake, sew clothes, go camping, surf, fish with my dad, take pictures, listen to music, walk on the beach, watch sunsets, but most of all be with my friends. My most memora- ble experience is having two great friends like Lisa and Kelly go through high school with me! I'll never forget all the great times I've had at Mar Vista. My plans are to attend college, study professional photography and word-processing. My greatest accomplishment was when I Won two ribbons at the Del Mar Fair for photography. My most embarrassing moment was when I received my bumper 1part of my braces1 and it made me drool! I was in Varsity Tennis 19, 101, Lettermen's Club, Photography Club, Senior Class, Yearbook Production 1121, Baseball Backers, Sophomore Class Vice President, Pep Club. Philoso- phy: It's not what's on the outside that counts, but what's inside a per- son! To all the under classmen, have as much fun in your senior year, because it only happens once in your lifetime! Susan Rodriguez - 1Satchola1 I like anything but soccer! My most memo- rable time was kidnapping the foot- ball players and toilet papering Mr. Burke's house. I'll never forget the day we played powderpuff football with the inferior underclassmen, and lost. I plan to pursue a career in law enforcement and own a black Porsche 928. My greatest accom- plishment was receiving a plaque for M.V.P. in Softball, 1980. My most

rience being a student at MVH. Dewagne Taylor - I like surfing, skate oarding, and being with my friends. My most memorable time was last summer. I'll never forget the time in the ASB. I plan to go to col- lege. I was in wrestling 10, 11, ASB 12, Skippers, 12. Philosophy: Be kind to others, they may be kind to you. Hi, mom, and thanks to MIP, IRF, LB, 1IZlBd and SQ for all the good times we a . Manuel Torres - fMenoJ I like music, being around and working with people, being wealthy, spending time with my family, being success- ful in life. My most memorable time was my senior year, running for BMOC, being in ASB. I'll never for- get the ASB elections of 1980, being involved in the MECHA club, the teacher strike, and student body of my time. I plan to attend college and be employed by a large record com- pany and do a lot of traveling. My greatest accomplishment was being president of the MECHA and the soccer club, and being appointed Commissioner of Activities, and graduating. My most embarrassing moment was giving my presidential campaign speech in front of the stu- dent body. I was in Movimento Estu- diante Chicano de Aztlan, Soccer Club, Inter-Club Council, ASB. My philosophy: Live each day to the fullest, for life is short. I would like to thank my parents for their love, support, and understanding. Ro Torres - CTiger, Ratton, Thim- blell like the moon, to run Dave over with my Moped, math analysis. My most memorable times were having battles in the Waddell Sea, Camping, T.M., 1979 camping trip, Mrs. Iohn- ston's 5th period, 1979-80. I'll never forget 1980 Varsity Baseball Team, Football, Altar Boys, hamburgling with Alan, Homecoming, 1980, heli- copters on December 4. I plan to become a Checkoslavakian revolu- tionary and lead a revolution in my homeland and free it once again. My greatest accomplishment was 1981 CIF Baseball Team, and landing T.M. My most embarrassing moment is every day in math analysis. Mrs. Waddell would burn me. I was in Frosh and V Baseball 9, 10, 11, 12: V Football 10, 11, 12: Baseball Backers, Varsity Alphabeta Club, ASB. My philosophy: Locks left on large P.E. lockers will be cut off. I'll remem- ber the baseballfwrestler wars. Charlotte Trainer - fSharles, Wild Woman 21 I like going to concerts, Rock and New Wave, and going to rowdy parties that end early in the morning, and of course skating P.B. with Iean 8: Barb. My most memora- ble time was both Dance Chore shows, and finally making cheer- leader and when we got a Superior trophy at camp. I'll never forget my friends, Iean, Kim, Barb, Annie, Mary, Bill, Chachi, and everyone, especially Mr. Mills, the Summer of '80 and Sweethearts, '81. I plan to major in business at SWC and live a happy life. My most embarrassing moment was getting sick after party- ing down south at Tilley's on Ieans birthday. I was in Pep Club, Dance Chore, and a Varsity Cheerleader. My philosophy: Never put yourself down -because no goal is too high to reach if you really want it. Gary Vanderwyst - I like Karen, surfing, football, wrestling, running, working on my car, photo, and kick- ing back at the beach and playing Over the Line with the Ebony Street Crew. My most memorable time was going to Karen's for the first time. The Motor Home Invasion. My only interception in football, and my first pin in wrestling. I'll never forget my senior year, football, and wres- tling practices. Book break in O'Neill's. Iune 22, 1980. Teacher strike. I plan to maybe go explore nature for awhile then hit college, then plan forward for life. Most embarrassing moment was dropping an interception that was in my hands: when Opie beat me in wrestling for the first time in 10th grade. I was in Varsity Football C2 yrsj, IV Football K2 yrsj, Wrestling, IV and Freshmen Track, Varsity, Surf Club, Letterman's Club, Varsity Club, Wrestling Club, and the UCWA. My philosophy: Always go forward in life and to do what you do best. Class of '81 is 4:31. Too bad we never got the senior lawn or sen- ior line but I think seniors deserve it. I'll always remember B.M., B.M., A.G., I.G., N.C. and K.W. I love you. Finally get to graduate. Does that mean We're adults? Tammgf White - I like swimming, guys, eing with my friends, going places that I have never been before, and having fun. My mostmemora- ble: my best friend Terry. I am so glad to have her for my best friend and sister. I'll never forget my x-boy- friend Mike Williams. I will always love him, for as long as I live. I hope to marry the man that I truly love. My philosophy: Enjoy what you have in life because you only live once. I wanted to thank my Mom and Dad for everything that they have ever done for me, and to let them know that I still love them very much. Thanks, Mom and Dad. Charlayne Wieland - fBlondieJ I like spending my afternoons with Pat, partying, and growing up. Most memorable time: Sweethearts of '80 with Pat. I'll never forget my closest friends Pat G., Mary C., Lisa K., and my chemistry buddies. I plan to go to SDSU and major in mathematics and have a great time. My greatest accomplishment was spending three years with Pat. My philosophy is: Be yourself, not what other people want you to be. I want to wish my sister the best of luck for her H.S. years. Linda Willibey - I like dancing, summer days and nights, and being with close friends. My most memora- ble time was Ir. Ditch Day and Sweethearts. I'll never forget my Iun- ior and Senior Year with N.F., L.L., I.C., I.H. and all the good times shared with Pablo. My future plans are to go to college, move out this summer and be happy. I was in Let- terettes, Track, Dance Chore, and Powderpuff Football. My philosophy is if you love something set it free, if it comes back to you it's your. If it doesn't it was never meant to be. Dione Woolstenhulme - fKellyj I like reading, cooking, watching sun- sets and being with my friends. I'll never forget all the sob stories Karen and I shared, or the B.B's and the I.C.'s. I plan to go to the Police Acad- emy and become a policewoman. My most embarrassing moment was hav- ing the car die in the middle of I.B. Blvd. and then my backing the car into a stop sign so I could get out of the road. Thanks Mom and Dad for putting up with me. Artemiza Zaragoza - fSqueeksj I like coconut ice cream from Oasis, and Ice Cream sandwiches from any where. My most memorable time participating in Powderpuff and being beande by the inferior, paltry underclassmen Irs. I'll never forget when the Pink Zone helped to kid- nap the football players and the T.P. master piece at Mr. Burke's house. My future plans are to go to SDSU and major in Business, primarily Accounting and eventually become a C.P.A. My greatest accomplishment was being acceptedgat SDSU in the Business Department. My most embarrassing moment was having the fainting syndrome called the Artie Disease. I was in S Club, Prez, Ir. and Sr. Class Sec.fTreas. V Tennis, CSF Life Member, Pep Club and an active member of the Pink Zone. Philosophy: If you are determined in life, you will reach your goals.
