These coaches: Mr. Coover, Football: Mr. Coxe, Track: Mr. Milke, Basketball: and Mr. Ganzer, Baseball: have in- stilled to make men from boys. They have been teachers and friends to these young men and to the school. This Log is also dedicated to the boys who worked on the scene of sports and behind the scenes. During the football season, they w-on their first Metro League game and continued to win for the remainder of the season, coming in fo-urth. The basketball team came in second at the Kiwanis Tour- nament Limited and fourth in the Metro League . Records were broken during track season and new ones made. Our baseball team held their po-sition of last yearas first in the Lions Tournament Limited. This has shown the growth of spirit and of prestige that our young people want to develop as Mariners. These people have started on the climb upon the ladder of recognition in sportsmanship and young manhood. Co-Editors ..,.. ECW Confenfri s...,,,,.,.Edna Aragon Judy Malcy Class Editors ,,Y,.. .....,. ' .....,.....+......., Gymnasium iii Li dvvnivl istnoticvvx Dear Seniors of I954: After the excitement of Senior Activities, each one will realize the meaning in being a graduate from a l-ligh School. The diploma granted yo-u symbolizes, at this stage of your lite, certain achievements, in terms of maturity, scholarship, and citizenship. The effectiveness of twelve years of schooling depends upon the use of your knowledge and achievements. Some of you will continue your education in Junior Colleges, Colleges, Universities, and trade schools, others of you will go forth- into the business world. Whatever you do, the knowledge and slcills gained as a student will be called upon. Mar Vista wants to be proud that it had a share in your destiny and future living. Therefore, lceep in mind always the tradi- tions and ideals you helped to establish while a Mariner and build upon those principles. Remember, once a Mariner, always a Mariner. I wish to you, from all of those you leave behind, happiness and good- will where ever you may go. Aloha to all, ROBERT O. SPRAGUE Principal I0 Vkcc-Vr'mcfxpaX K1 s ' Brown Nuss Bo Ys' V.
