T U R E G L I M P S As we look into the stars of the future, let us set our gaze on a l1ttle town called Hollywood, and on the l1ttle people tn it who once were members of the Junior Victory Class of Mar-Ken The most logical place to begln our future glimpses would b on Hollywood and Vine As our telescope draws closer we see on the orner a mam oth new theatre featuring W Victory Productions W which are directed and produced by Art Stern Drawing closer to it, we find Val Arnheim selling tickets, with Dlx Davis Q tree urer of the corporation D, peerlng over her shoulder, staring eagerly at every cent collected As we enter the lobby Tom Shultz pre ents us with a program of the even1ngs performance On the cover we see that the star of the show is Patty Sull1van who appear n1ghtly dancxng the Irish Jig Also appearlng is Shirely Balogh who does a Juggling act with an accordlan 1D one hand and two volumes of N How t learn Geometry In Five Easy Semesters', 1n the other hand For the flnale of the first Act the ourtaln rise and we see Gerry Lynn skating around on an ice cube, abely ass1sted by two polar bears er the how we grab a snack at WYe Olde Ritzy Hhlty Shopnen where we meet up v1th Loulse Erlckson and PT1SC1ll8 Lyon discussing their latest heart throb The SpGC18lS on today s menu are our second bromo, re leave the shop. A few doors down, we enter one of Hollywood's swanklest beauty salons, ovned and operated by Bonnie Jeane Churchill She is feat urlng the new ear length hair cut, whlch she is sporting herself Facials are given by Suzanne Hlll, and colffures are orlginated by Virginia Turk Crossing the street, we encounter the openlng of a new drama theatre, dedlcated to the works of that great writer, William Shakespeare The current billing 1S Macbeth, starr1ng Bill Dawson and Dell1e Ellis In the audience we see that well known Shakesper ian cr1tic, Mrs Gilliand, thoroughly enjoying the performs , c COIHPHUICG 'DY Beverly Schoene and Marjorle Morrison, who are now f88Ch1I1g at UIS C Not having t1me to stay for the flnal Act, we depart and enter an Indian Curlo Shop, two doors down, where we find Betty Abbott as proprietor. It appears that Betty has turned out to be a long lost Indian Princess , and has opened this shop to display her wares made by her Indian slave girls Leaving the shop, we hear falnt strains of muslc We enter the next shop that we come to and flnd Charlene Arnold teach1ng Marilyn Telfer to tap on ice skates, Suddenly, Mary takes a false stepstep and slips v1th a loud crack r1ght through the ice, but in runs Sheila Harrington with her first aid kit, so all is well, and we exit A few blocks down we enter the Arts and Science Bullding Taking the elevator up to the top floor, we open the first door to the right, only to be met by a herd of old shoes, alarm clocks, etc We im ed1ately close the door and rush on down the corridor Later we find that the room was occup1ed by La Verne Burden and Camille Chan, who are fUT1OuSly worklng on thelr new novel, W How to Ditch School W, or W Go Back To Sleep n F U ' s E S I - ' e I C 9 , , ' s , - s I O u S ' . . . . o ' ' ,- Aft s f . R B E L O V E D T E A C H E Through the years we have truggled and str1ved to please our teachers Sometlmes lt 1S not very easy It depends merely on the mood that they are 1n, If they get a sudden impulse towglvu a llttle qulz, watch out, becau e lt usually turn out to be a long 1nvolved test Maybe 1f you can wrlte f1fty words a second you may be able to flD1Sh the test before the per1od ends But we will not worry about that now One of the most 1mportant th1ng to learn about teachers is how to psychoanalyze them If you 8CCOmpl1Sh this there w1ll be less bloodshed There are three types of tea hers Flrst, there 1S the shy, SGHS1t1VB, and sympathet1c type If you use the rlght psychology you can probably talk her out of any thlng, even procrastlnatlng the 6X3m1D6tlOHS Thls specles is very rare but when you flnd one your worr1es are over 1D her classes Second, there 1S the thorough, lmpulslve, deflnlte type W1th th1s k1nd of a teacher, your oondolances wlll have no effect You are llkely to have more trouble wlth her than the others, because are able to translate her statem nts or you are apt to bg 'mpggs several polnts on each answer 1n a test She 13 very hard to please and wlll probably drlve you crazy Her lectures w1ll be profound and 1Ht6TGSt1Dg 1f you under Band them, so you undoubtedly learn a lot The next and last type lS the one who knows a lot about noth ing She u ually wanders off the subgect on to somethlng w1th which she lS famlllar In order to please her, try not to let her see you are ready to fall asleep She likes to thlnk she lS teach1ng you somethlng and you must humor her To save tlme you can do your homevork Nh1lG she is not lOOhlHg For her subgect, the next book offers the best lnformatlon Teachers are a del1cate pecimen of humanlty, and must be treated wlth the utmo t care To get the best results the new mod ern methods of influent1al power are recommended If these are not ava1lable the apple pO11Sh1Hg act may be acknowledged, but may not be as 6ff8Ct1V8 The maln thlng to remember IS no matter what happens make her bel1eve that you hold her to be an authority and try to believe what he says Next to our parents, relatlves, and dentists, we hold no one dearer to our hearts than our beloved teachers - 1 0 U J R S Q - no our 3113?-ll ii-0 301 ii s , ' . . . . 0 . .
