A D V I S E M E N T D A'Y The fourteenth annual Advise ent Day of U S C was held on Saturday, May 2nd, 1942 The purpose of this day is to allow High School and Junior College students to vislt a University and to give them any 1Df0Tm3t1OD they desire as to the courses they will take when they enter a Universlty Thus it happened that a brave little group of s1x sen1ors found themselves on the U S C. campus on this particular day Th1s party was composed of Ruth Circe, John Warwick, Bob Romer, Eddy Vall, Betty Shattuck and Marjorie Lee Hugunin After P9g1St6TlDg at the Bovard AdmiD18tT8tl0D Building they entered the aud1tor1u , where they heard a concert b y the University A Cappela Choir, and then to an address by Professor Baxter on nUD1V6TSlty Education ln Vartimen After this address the group separated, the girls gO1ng to the Women's Assembly and the fellows to the Men's These assembll s are to discuss noncurr1cular problems of all kinds After this the group was allowed to d1scuss any points not clear to them with indlvldual advisors on curr1cular problems After these problems were settled, lunch was served 1D the Foyer of Town and Gown with a concert by the Un1vers1ty of Year Program for Unxverslty Graduationn After th1s the 11ttlB group separated and followed thelr respectlve 1nclinnt1ons to the VaT1OuS buildings, such as the Mudd W8mOT18l and the Allan Hancock Foundat1on Later on the Sororitles and Fraternlties held open house for the beneflt of the v1s1tors Y S' D A Y Judge Cyril Yedor spent an interesting and informative day at jail the other day But it was quite an honor, an way Ho was chosen to help Judge Kauffman on the bench on Boy's Day, and spent the day trying cases, fining those convicted and absorblng a few detailed facts about the duties of being a Judge He visited the city jail, then listened to speeches by the c1ty Off1Cl81S As the day ended, Judge Yedor had trled 150 cases, sent 20 to jaxl and collected 8300 00 in fines Jimmy Zansr spent the same day serving as Prosecuting Attorney James Zaner He heard 75 felonies and misdemeanors tried, had lunch at the county Jail and went through it, then went back to the main off1ce He received a special inv1tat1on from Deputv Prosecuting Attorney Rosanthaw, inviting hun to visit the C1427 .Tail the next day, which, he reports, is far 1nferior to the County Jail All in all, Mar Kan was well represented at the tradltional Boy's Day, and our representatives had a wonderful time . .
