DR. FERDINAND DEL Plzzo PRlNCIPAL'S MESSAGE Fellow Students: If I were asked to describe the world of today in one word my answer would be, Change. Thus, in the lines which follow I aim to point out the significance of change and the role young America must play in this changing world. In this day of supersonic speeds yesterday's tomorrow has become today's yesterday. More changes have taken place in the past 30 years than have taken place in man's entire life. jet engines, television, atomic powered motors, and velocities of over 1,000 miles an hour have become common place. It is quite apparent that such sweeping in- novations are not only essential but even necessary if we, as a stronghold of democracy, are to maintain our position of influence in this highly competitive world. Many of us will agree that the acceptance of any change requires a readiness on the part of the individual. To this end each of us must be intellectually vigorous, mentally alert, and physically strong. My own feeling is that all of us must regard any change as a long range im- 8 provement which aims to produce people who are not only competent in the sciences and technology, but who are also better able to meet the responsibilities of citizenship in a free society. Consequently, in the face of these enlightening changes it follows that if young America is to assume its rightful place in this dynamic world high school must become more meaningful to the individual student. The fundamentals for all future interpretations are learned in high school. America's most prominent and successful scholars and scientists acquired the interest that started them on their way in high school. The industrial giants, the business ty- coons, the technicians, and the professional men of TO- MORROW are in high school classes TODAY. Ast long as over ninety percent of America's youth are diligently following a course of srudy in high school any challenge produced by CHANGE will not only be intelli- gently appraised, it will also be successfully met. Sincerely yours,
”

642, Q u. . fx 1 -w w. ed ,.. NURSE Mrs. Crofts SPECIAL SCHOOL PERSONNEL The special school personnel of M.R.H. are com- posed of a small group of hard working people who per- form a number of different jobs. These men behind the scenes make sure that our high school runs smoothly and efficiently. The cafeteria staff and nurse insure the well being and good health of the students. Surely these people behind the scenes deserve the co-operation and appreciation of the students for making the school a comfortable place to be. 1 WL. fa wal ,,, W.
