Larason at it Again Math Program Supplies Various Needs The math program at M-RH has been ar- ranged to minister to the needs of both the students who feel that they want only enough math to get along comfortably in everyday situations and the students who feel that they want to prepare themselves for more advanced mathematics. The students who feel the need to strengthen their mathematical foundation may take advantage of the general math class. For those who feel that they want more than just a foundation in math. courses are offered ranging from algebra -ff both elementary and advancedn to many nf the various forms of geometry. The freshmen can take advantage of Algebra l and ll. lfuclidcan plane geometry is offered to the sophomore students. The juniors are invited to take solid geometry and :Xlgelwra lll. and the seniors may take trigo- nonietry and Xlgelwra ll' or college algebra. 18 Science Aids Future Einsteins Realizing the growing need for scientific knowledge in our changing world. M-RH of- fers students the opportunity to acquire the basic knowledge of the sciences. The freshmen have the opportunity to take general science which is intended to give a general background for all of the sciences. Sopho- mores are able to study biology. The biology course tries. in addition to teaching biology. to lay a foundation for the study of related courses such as Zoology and bacteriology. Juniors can dclvc into the wonders of chemis- try. Much practical laboratory experimenta- tion is done in connection with classroom study. The seniors have the opportunity to carry on their scientific studies by studying physics. The physics and chemistry classes are intended as preparatory classes for the college physics and chemistry courses. A Three-Sided Affair in Geometry Calculated Interest in Algebra g

825 U TIL 3:00 Social Studies Nleel Problems Every year the social sciences become more compli- cated due to the fact that our world is growing smaller and smaller as a result of the many technological advances which occur. Realizing this. the social studies department offers a wide variety of courses intended to enrich and polish the knowledge of Nl-RH students. lvnderstanding that the freshmen are unfamiliar with the organization of high school. the social studies department has created an orientation course for them to help them become familiar with the procedure at NI-RH. The freshmen also study the Missouri Constitution and the history of Missouri. The sophomores study the history of the world. and the juniors study the history of America and the .American Constitution. ln addition. courses are offered in consumer economics. world geography. and American problems. For the juniors and seniors. a course in psychology is offered. lts purpose is to acquaint the student with the reasons and motives for human behavior. Consumer economics teaches its students how to make the best use of their money when buying goods in Nmerica. World geography is a study of the geography and customs of the countries of the world. 'Xmerican problems is the study of current affairs and problems in America. Library A ids Research lVl-RH is fortunate to have a library which is as well stocked as ours is. for our library is adequately supplied both with the classics and with modern books. It is available for reference materials of all kinds--encyclo- pedias. dictionaries. and other reference worksAas well as books suitable for just reading for pleasure. The library is used as a reference room in the morning while the auditorium is used for a study hall. and in the after- noon. it is used as the study hall. Fine -4 rts Aid in Rounding Education In order to have a well rounded education. it is necessarv for a person to Come in contact with as many different fields as possible. ln recognition of this need. the students are re- quired to studv one unit of fine arts. Among the fine arts are art. vocal music. and or in- strumental music. Each gives the student an opportunity to express himself. and afford him an opportunity to realize undiscovered talents. First vear art is intended to provide hasic training in art. and further vears of art enahle the more serious student to receive rrritieisrn and develop fully ,his talents. There are in- strumental and vocal groups for a varying range of interests and skills. Among these classes are hand. orchestra. choir. ensemhle. and the glee clubs. Letis Keep Together Now fg ,ie Art Class Provides Creative Outlet 1 Coasting Orchestra Rehearsal Physical Education Develops Teamwork Although the physical education classes do provide the usual hodv-huilding exercises. their purpose is not only physical development. These classes have also heen organized to provide the students with a working knowl- edge of many of the sports which. in turn. helps to develop teamwork and good sports- manship. To help develop these qualities an active intramural program is provided. The girls play hockev. haskethall. vollevhall and soft- hall. The hovs plav foothall. haskethall. volley- hall. softhall and have wrestling meets and cross-countrv meets. Nia'vlewood-Richmond Heights is noted for its good sportsmanship in all these activities.
