A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL To the students of Mapleton High School: It is indeed a privilege to be asked to write a message to be printed in the 1957 RAMBLER, As you progress through life and have to make de- cisions along the way, I would like to have you recall the advice given the student body at Award Day this year by Mr. John Masters when he presented the Rotarian Awards. His advice is called The Four Way Test of the Things We Think, Say, or Do. 1. ls it the truth? 2. ls it fair to all concerned? 3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships? 4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned? Your school has made a sincere effort to supply you with the fundamentals necessary for you to pro- ceed on to your next step in life. For some of you, it will be additional education -- for others, different types of work. But remember, no matter what you do, there is only one thing that will train the mind and that is voluntary use of the mind by the man himself. A person may aid you, guide you, suggest and in- spire you, but the only thing worth having is that which you get by your own exertions, and what you get is in direct proportion to what you put into it. ima?-my M.
