As the 1950 Mapleton htgh graduates wlnd thexr way Lnto the world Madam Zchyler predlcts them as she sees them ln 1965 As she gazes lnto her crystal ball she sees prlvate detect1ve Charles Lane on the scene of the robbery of the JONES MERCHANDISE COMPANY owned by Rex Jones whlle news reporter Jerry Wesslxng lS on the front line gettlng hxs story Marllyn Olson chxef secretary of the clothes department lS all Ln a flutter We move now to Radlo Statlon WJJD Chlcago and we hear announcer George Koxthan broadcastlng the robbery The scene shxfts to a lonely street ln Death Valley Into our vlslon comes a house that looks very desolate Above the doors we read UNFORTUNATE OLD MAIDS HOME owned by Joann Martln and Opal Fxck As they pass through the halls they bump Lnto the excltlng tenants ln the home Floretta Hupke who lS a professlonal haxr dresser and Donna Sanford comedy strlp wrxter They are deeply engrossed Ln a dlscusslon of thelr flrst and only love affaxr The vlslon comes clear wlth the flash of a camera operated by Jane Hun Sakel' celebrlty photographer as she takes the plcture of Senator Gerald Flam mang As the dxm shadow brxghtens there appears to be a crowd of rnotlng young men crowdlng around somethlng that seems to be excxtlng as the chxef of pollce Rlchard Jensen and assxstant Walter Sonksen qu1etthemob They flnd lt 15 Coreene Nepper sellxng her novel Day After the Nlght Before There s a black streak that appears to be a horse rndden by Jockey James Helsler As lt comes Lnto the homestretch we see xt lS the race horse Llght nlng whose owner lS Gllbert Babbe As the mist clears we see a large crowd at the Iowa State Falr Mr and Mrs the Dare Dev1l Drlvers of Motorcycle Larry Ullrxch who was lntroduced by the world famous clown Harvey I-Iablnck The Drake Unlversxty pennant fa1ntly blowlng 1n the breeze clears the crystal Yes there IS Professor Phlllp Nagel hard at work behlnd hls desk and there IS the football coach Bruce Wnghtman out ln the fleld very busy wlth the Drake players Whlle ln the Drake llbrary chtef llbrarlan Delor1s Stender LS taklng xnventory of the books Once again the crystal clears and we see a neon s1gn What are those words on the s1gn'? Oh yes xt says JACOBS DRUG STORE We flnd tts owner to be Ronald Jacobs and back Ln the drug department we locate Elvera Hesse pharmaclst whxle Shlrley Brooks malntalns the soda fountaln There looms ln the foreground a beautlful plcture palnted by Ardlth Davls who has won fxrst prlze on one of her scenlc plctures ln the National Falr 'Ihe mlst llfts and we flnd ourselves gazlng at a large ranch ln Montana owned by Rlchard Goodall who has hlred Gene Dotson as chlef bronco buster Dlmly we see the slgn Gum Cracking Lessons As xt becomes more cle-ar we see a group of students emergmg from the door followed by thelr lnstructor Kay Martm We see the gllnt of an airplane and lnslde we flnd stewardess Roberta Banks comforting F B I agent Thelma Johnson who IS on a lone and rough rlde to the opposxte coast We flnd that Mar1ce I-hckman has establlshed atuberculos1s nome for the needy Ethel Johnson IS the chxef nurse of the convalescents whlle Jeannette LeFebvre IS the book keeper of the home Q - l Y 3 I Y . . . , . . . 0 Y Y , . . v 7 . . . .
