emor C6165 Mdforg In August 1937 a group of 33 tlmld but eager flve and sxx year olds entered the halls of Mapleton Publlc School for the flrst txme Of these 33 elght are mem bers of the Semor Class of 1950 They are Delorls Stender Ronald Jacobs Kay Ma1txn Shxrley Brooks Jerry Wessllng Rlchard Jensen Rex Jones and Donn Muckey The next elght years were eight full years for the class Each year proved to be more excltmg and xnterestlng than the preceedlng year Addltlons made were Marlce Htckman ln the second Thelma Johnson Gene Dotson Bruce Wxghtman and Ethel Johnson Ln the sxxth Arxdth Davxs ln the seventh Phlllp Nagel Donna Sanford Coreene Nepper ln the elghth and a few of the members left Each year holds lndlvldual memorxes for each member of the class but one Lncxdent that everyone wlll long remember 15 the play Golng on Seventeen glven whlle ln the Sf venth grade The proceeds of the play went mto a Unlted States Fxfty Dollar War BODCI MI' Flemming MI' Doran aHdM1ss Boggs were Jumor I-hgh lnstructors In the fall of 1946 the class entered hxgh school wlth a membersh1p of 58 The new members were Gllbert Babbe Opal Flck Gerald Flamrnang Jlm Helsler Jane Hunsaker Floretta Hupke Duane Ibsgaard Ruth Koenlngs George Kolthan Charles Lane Jeanette LeFebvre Walter Sonksen Rosella Brummer Marxlyn Olson Harvey Habxnck Mr Isenmxnger was our class sponsor and Robert Green ough was class presldent The flrst class party was a skatmg party at Denlson lviany changes were notlced as we Freshmen adapted ourselves to the hlgh school outxne As Sophomores the class gaxned more conf1dence Soon hldden talent began to appear ln the musxc room More of our fellows found thelr way to the new gym and the athletlc department underwent some notxceable changes Mr Hlllman and Mlss Ryan were sponsors of the class and Rex Jones was elected presldent Class membershxp was 49 In our Junxor year the class took on the usual responslblllty of flnanclng the Banquet and Prom Wlth Kay Martm as presldent and Mlss Fladung and Mr Byers as sponsors the class sponsored aHalloween Masquerade a play sold magazxnes and sold concesslons at football and basketball games The Prom and Banquet were a success wlth Ireland as the theme Ray Phllxps furnlshed the muslc for the Prom The Senxor Class elected the followlng offlcers Rex Jones Presldent George Kolthan Vlce Presxdent Ruth Koenlgs Secretary Donn Muckey Treasurer Mr Farrell and Mr Stllle are the class sponsors The class colors are yellow and grey The class flower IS the Yellow Rose and the motto IS Though Not At The Top We re Stlll Cltmbxng The Senlor year was a busy one wlth the class Spon sormng the annual Sadte I-lawklns Day puttlng on a Sr Class play, orderxng nouncements and name cards havlng pxctures taken and then selectxng the proofs to be fmlshed and orderxng caps and gowns The Class of 50 was well repre sented ln the musmc athletlc and speech departments Soon hlgh school w1ll be a thlng of the past for the Class of 50 but the mem bers of the class wlll always treasure every moment spent and value every lesson taught them durlng thetr days Ln M H S l I I I I I . , - . . , , I I I I I C I I I I 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 . . u .
