SENIOR HISTGRY As once more old M H S begins to round out another school term the Senlors of 1948 begm to round out thelr high school l1ves The attentlon of all IS focused on one grand hnts that be1ng of course graduation Many obstacles and tr1als have been overcome by each of the thlrty students but 1nterm1ngled wtth the hardshlps that were endured lay fun humor and delight ful t1mes In order that these memorres may not be destroyed ln so short a t1me let us take a short revtew of the Senlor htstory In September 1935 K1ndergarten opened her doors to a group of enthu s1ast1c hve and SIX year olds Among the group were seven members of the Sen1or Class They arel P Cook Margaret Etchason Ellzabeth Hahn Adehne Kraft Alberta Kunkel Dwan Martm and Erna Price Under the supervlslon of MISS Tye the future graduates learned to play w1th blocks take naps Wllh therr 1nd1v1dual rag rugs and rn general start a new llfe of learmng To the horror of all Margaret Etchtson and Dwan Martm became the terrors of the class when they knocked on the Thlrd Grade wtndows and had to make up trme Next year the group entered the portals of the Frrst Grade where they were met by MISS Langmack The great ach1evement ln thxs year proved to be the r1d1ng of the glant strrdes on the playground Second Grade proved to be an excltlng and mterestlng class under the leadersh1p of M1ss Wtrsrg Among the numerous act1v1t1es emoyed 1n 'll'11S term were an excurston to Castans by tram and bus and v1s1ts to the bakery post OfflC9 Creamery and lumber yard The class 1dol for 'J day at least proved to be Alberta Kunkel when she mastered the spell1ng of encyclopedla and wrote 1t on the blackboard for the class Wrth a llbrary of therr own and a telephone 1n the room our lxttle group entered Thrrd Grade wxth w1de-open lnterest Under the encouragement of MISS Olson the students became fond readers of books had a health contest and pubhshed a paper known as The T G Flash Th1s year Don Uhl en tered the fold Around this tlme 1t seems that I P Cook developed the hablt of gettmg hurt even to the extent of falhng off the house and break1ng an ann In Fourth Grade Dorothy Ketelsen Jomed the group ln the classroom of M1ss Adee M1ss Adee was later replaced by Mrs M1ller In Fzfth Grade the class dlsplayed wxth prlde the elaborate salt and pepper shakers mace for the1r mothers Chrrstmas presents Both the class and M1ss M1tchell welcomed Lena F 1ck and Dons Butcher 1nto thelr mxdst ll . . . , 1 . . - 1 . 1 . . . 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 ' - 1 . , . 1 ' ' - 1 . . . . . , , , 1 1 ' 1 1 . , . , . , . 1 1 1 - 1 . - - 1 - . 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 . 11 - 11 1 1 1 1 . 11 11 - . , . .
