GIRLS' BASKETBALL TEAM PASS THAT BALL HURRY AND SCORE WE WON WE WON HURRAH The girls' basketball team was coached this year by Mr Fettig It is the first year that most of the girls have played basketball, and we think that they are to be congratulated on the fine games they played The girls practiced long and hard to try and achieve a team level that they felt would bring rewards to them and the community They displayed very excellent sportsmanship at all of the ball games even when they were on the losing side Illness crippled the team many times, but the girls tried hard to please their coach and fans at all times whether they had to massage an ankle at half time or drink tea at a time out they were really willing to do their best The team had a very good record and they won the South Conference They received a very nice trophy for their efforts in the Cass Valley Conference contest At the district tournament they placed fourth Congratulations Girls!! BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM This year the boys' team had a very successful year They showed very good sportsmanship and played some very exciting and excellent games They not only played good basketball, however they also sponsored a holiday tournament and pancake supper The proceeds of the tournament were spent on new red suits The profits of the supper went to furnish funds for the boys to attend the state tournament at Jamestown They all reported having a good time and one they will never forget Elroy Nordlund, Harry Warner, David Grind berg, Duwayne Ellison, Cliff McKinnon, Don Nissen, Larry Mattson and Chuck Thompson Coach Neil Taverns, Canter At the District tournament which was held at Arthur, our boys were very fine representatives of the school They won the lirst game in an overtime with Amenia They lost the second game, but on the final night our boys defeated the Erie team to win a beautiful third place trophy Mr Taverna, you can be proud of the fine team you coached 29 9 D gg K CLOCKWISE: John McKinnon, Gary Anderson,
