Student Council The Mapleton Student Council is a service or- ganization dedicated to the task of improving the school and its many functions. Members of the council hold one of the most honored and important positions in the school, for they are the voice ofthe student body. Among the activities of the council for the year were the sponsoring of the Homecoming, presenta- tion of the queen and court, and the Homecoming danceg a battle of the bandsg selecting a school ban- nerg the drawing up of a constitution for the schoolg and the direction of elections for the coming year. During the 1966-1967 school year the Mapleton F.F.A. maintained an active membership of forty- eight farm boys studying agriculture under the di- rection of Mr. Welch. The chapter has had numerous activities includ- ing the sending of three members to F.F.A. summer camp, judging teams for dairy cattle, general live- stock, and soil and water management, and the sponsoring of three delegates, David Goon, Jim Kline, and Bob Wingrove to the state F.F.A. con- vention. Four chapter farmers were nominated to receive the State F.F.A. Degree at the state conven- tion. They were Dan McClaflin, Fred Ropp, Jim Ropp, and Richard Thompson. This year's Latin Club was made up of the Latin I and Latin II students and some mem- bers of theJunior Classical League. Under the guidance of Mrs. Nearhood, the club has been working on various projects to Hnance a European tour, to be made during the summer of 1967. They have had chicken dinners, baked sales, candy sales, and numer- ous selling projects to help add to the money already in the treasury. With the help of this money several members of the club will be able to take the trip. The oflicers for the year were: President-Pat Stentz Vice-President-Jacque Stiebritz Secretary-Celia Riffle Treasurer-Lea Daniels
