Special recognition should go to the outstanding job done by the ten senior players. Certainly no one can argue that ten Hne ball-players will be lost through graduation. Nor can it be argued that this year's team was one of the best that lVIapleton will see. Next year's team, how- ever, will be expected to pick up where the team left off this year, that is by improving the 6-3 mark and keeping the home Held unmarred by defeat. Row I: N. Crow, Wiser, l-liukcy,J. Murtaugh, D. Lindecamp, K. Pittenger, D. Steiner, D. Baker, D. Lechiara, L. Lacy Row 2.1 B. Wiser, manager, J. Kramer, J. Pence, G. Jollay, J. Hickey, N, Claypool, D. Moose,J. Maiken, I. Welch, T. Crow, T. Hickey, D. Brockway Row 3: The 1966 Mapleton Mountie football team, under the fine coaching of Jim Reynolds, Lonnie Atchison, and Glenn Honeycutt, showed its fans the most impressive season in the four year history of Mapleton football. With the seniors showing outstanding leadership and with a great all-out team effort, the Mounties came back from a disappointing 1-8 record to a 6-3 record. The line, led by seniors Lechiara, Wiser, and Brock- way, despite its small size, proved to be among the best in the conference, allowing only 88 points defen- sively. However, a good team consists not only of a good stout defense but also a hard-driving offense. The back- field proved to be most outstanding as, led by all-con- ference halfback Tim Hickey and quarterback Jim Stuart, it scored the majority of 175 points, third high- est in the conference.
