Christmas Dance December 17, 1966, the Mapleton High seniors sponsored the first dance of their high school career. The annual Christmas dance was a semi-formal event and featured the Five Plus One, an Ashland High School dance band. Other Dances Various classes and organizations sponsored dances throughout the school year. The student council sponsored the Battle of the Bands, the F.H.A. presented the Sadie Hawkins Dance, and sophomore class offered the Spring Fling. Student spirit was evident at all dances, and each will be remembered for the fun, the good bands, and attractive decorations.

Perfect landing. Nice throw! Chuck vaults over. 2 Rx. 21,-I ws- .mx -- x. Glympic Day Shotput Sandy throws again. Olympic Day was an eager awaiting of partici- pation in various sporting events. For the girls, the day gave the chance to excel in what used to be only boys' events. The girls com- peted in the shotput, high jump, and relays. The boys who were not members of the track team showed their prowess in the various field and run- ning events. The seniors won the olympics with a total score of 76 points. Second place ended in a tie between the juniors and sophomores, with the freshmen in last place.
