Music-Concert Style David C. Vaas, director of the 83 piece concert band, pre- sented them to the public at the annual Christmas concert and the spring concert. They also participated in the district and state contests, receiving an excellent rating on the state level. The annual exchange program was held with the South Central band in May, and was enjoyed by the students of Mapleton. Raymond Naylor was chosen by the band members to receive the john Philip Sousa Band Award which was pre- sented to him at the spring concert. Marching Band The marching band, led by head majorette Becky Biddinger, stepped onto the Field for all home and away games during the football season and paraded for Halloween and Christmas. Raymond Naylor and David jollay directed the pep band during halftime of all the home basket- ball games. The steady crowd will never forget the Batman Theme and Spanish Flea.
