Thank you and bye, friends. Being an exchange student is one of the most wonderful things that has happen to me. First day at school was really hard for me, I was scared and I felt myself lonely. Everything was so new, it took me a while to get used to the whole new school system and it took me a more than a while to get use to hear and speak English all the time. But every time when I got a problem with my english and I felt that I was lost there was some friend who helped me. I have met so many new people over here and all I can say is that you are the most friendiest and nicest people I have ever met. I am so glad I got a chance to come here at Maple Valley, I love the spirit you got in here. I like the way you do things together, and also I enjoy the football games, homecoming and pep assembly. My family over here is just great, they have really made me feel like home. They have always helped me understand me, and stand by me what ever I have done. I will never forget my family over here. I hope that some day I get a chance to come here again and meet my family and of course all my Mends. I have to thank all my Mends, you have been so nice to me, you have made this year really special to me! I wish the best of luck to everybody over hear, take care of yourselves. Gudrum Bjorg Brangadottir Miklbraut 60 105 Reykjavik ICELAND (Qkvc T frir 01 It 0 yktcur. 0l(L [ Thank you for every- thing and good luck in everything. Good-bye. To become an exchange student is probably one of the greatest thing I have ever done. My first days here in the U.S. were very difficult. I didn't understand anything people were saying to me and the heat was terrible, (in Iceland it was about 65°F. but when I came here it was about 95°F). My idea of the U.S. was very different from what I think now. I thought that the culture and the people weren't so different from Iceland, but I found out that I was very wrong, but I can t say that I'm dissapointed. Most of the things were fun. Like your school. I like it how everything is about the school, the sports, band, and the choir, and I like your school spirit. Which we don 't have at all in Iceland. And other new things I liked, was the football games and homecoming. My first days at Maple Valley were terrible. When I came to the school to choose my classes I was showed around the school and thought how to open my locker (but we don t have lockers in Iceland) and it all seemed very easy. But you can imagine how it is when the bell rings and everybody rushes out in the hall. How on earth was I suppose to find my locker, open it and then find my classroom when there were people everywhere and I had only four minutes? But it all worked out because people were so helpful and patient. My family here is very nice and I felt comfortable the first day even though it is a big change from three older and two younger brothers and sisters. There is only two younger ones, but I love my family and I hope that in the future I can come back to Nashville to visit them and all my friends. I'm very glad that I could come to the U.S. A., to meet all those wounderfuI people, go to Maple Valley and live in Nashville. Thank you all my Mend for being so nice to me. 30 rinklei Scbastiai )cftenizie M. Bukoski D. Jannan Gearhart T. tlubbcl K. Smith G. Godbey rew S. The JUNIOR FLOAT — 2nd place — featured a big, smiling Lion in bermuda shorts which rocked back and forth on top of the wave, on a surfing board. The SOPHOMORE FLOAT — 3rd place — had a stuffed Lion windsurfing who rode on top of a blue cotton and tissue paper wave, behind a big ' 'All State'' football. The 4th place float was a real attention- getter with its big coke style can bearing the catch the Lion Wave saying. The can rocked back and forth next to another can which read Lionologist. This float belonged to the FRESHMEN CLASS. This year the student body honored Mr. Carroll Woff as the Grand Marshall of the Homecoming Parade.
