The band is 95 members strong, including 8 Flag Girls, 3 Major- ettes and their man up front. This year’s band has had a bit of the new mixed with the old. In addition to marching in various parades, performing at half-time, and dancing to the tune of “Hawaiian War Chant”, the band com- peted at Marching Festivals also. On October 16, 1982, the MV Band finished competition with a Division II (Excellent) rating, only 3 points away from a Division I (Superior) rating. CONGRATU- LATIONS! Mr. Thatcher says that “The band is more respon- sive because of the consistency gained in the past two years. The balance is improved by having more brass and secondary instruments. “The rapport between the band members and also with me has grown, and I truly enjoy and care for the people I work with.
