Faculty Strives for Additional Achievements Mr. Ed Sampson skillfully teaches 7th and 8th grade physical education, U.S. History and World Geography. In his spare time he indulges himself in bowling, tennis and golf. Mrs. Gail Sapp teaches General Business, and Shorthand 1 and 2 In her spare time she enjoys sewing, horseback riding, reading and skiing. Miss Sharlot Sours teaches Math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Advanced Math. Among her school activities she is the advisor to the National Honor Society. She endeavors to travel, knit, and sew as much as possible during her spare time. Mrs. Sue Steffel teaches Short Stories, Grammar A, Novels, and Communications. Among her spare time activities, her ecstacy shows through clearly in her reading, sailing, and sewing. Miss Michelle Skovera teaches 7th and 8th grade English and physical education. She also finds time to be a J.V. and Varsity Volleyball coach and the girl’s track team coach. Her spare time is energetically filled with swimming and sailing. Mrs. Julie Swartz teaches Grammar and Composition, Myths, and A.T.L. Included in her many school activities are Sophomore class advisor, and the score keeper for the girls volleyball and basketball teams. She likes spending time with her family, and building her home. Mr. Dan Watson, aside from succeeding endeavors in the teaching of 8th grade Math, also takes time out of his demanding schedule to coach football, sponsor Varsity Club, hunting, gardening, and raising dogs fill his spare time. Mr. Tom Taylor teaches Architectural Drafting, Shop 1, and 7th grade Math. He coaches Cross Country, Track, and is the Junior class advisor. He enjoys hunting, and working on his house. 18 Foculty

. . . Out for Originality Mrs. Pat Reinbold directs elementary vocal music at Maplewood, Fuller, and Kellogg, and also conducts the M.V. choir. She involves herself in concerts, assists in musicals and directs the Valley Aires. Mr. Jerry Reese is co-advisor of the Boys Varsity Club, J.V. Girl's Basketball, and Varsity Boys Basketball and teaches seventh grade science. His spare time is spent golfing and thinking of things to keep me from doing remodeling jobs around the house. Mr. Gary St. Onge teaches General Business and Accounting. He also takes a tremendous amount of pleasure in fishing, and camping during his off hours. Mr. Ward Rooks is one of our pragmatic M.V. counselors. He is also the Freshman class sponsor. In his spare time he enjoys horses, following the Detroit Tigers, music, and reading. Mr. Mel Ruohonen teaches history, and physical education. He also coaches football, basketball, track, and night school. In his spare time he involves himself in a church council, and bowling. Mrs. Carol Ripple teaches 7th grade English. Her school activities include coaching 7th grade girl’s basketball. Outside hobbies involve reading, working with plants in her garden, and going to Western Michigan University. Mr. Ron Rosin teaches 8th grade English. A few of his many hobbies include gardening, woodcutting, hunting, golf, bowling, jogging, and bridge. Mr. Chris Ricketts teaches U.S. History, Current Events, and Minority Groups. His school activities include coaching wrestling. He enjoys sports, reading, and travel. Faculty 17

Our Faculty Is Number One! Mrs. Audrey Watson teaches Typing and Office Block. She also video tapes all Varsity football games. Her outside activities include bowling, sewing, reading, and knitting. Mr. David Westbay directs Jr. Sr. High bands, and those of Kellogg, and Maplewood elementary schools. He also conducts three pep bands and the marching band. His number 1 love affair is with music. Bible study is close behind. Mrs. Mary Aquirre teaches reading. In her spare time she enjoys reading, painting, and sewing. Mrs. Aquirre is also in charge of the library of paper back books in our school, which is often used by students. Mr. Ernie Jacoby coordinated all activities for the 6th grade camp. He supervises adult education. His energy and zest for life astounds all. He is also in charge of the community enrichment classes. Mrs. Flynn spends her varied amount of school time working in the Resource Room. She is the football cheerleading sponsor. She enjoys skiing, paddleball, and camping. Another recent time consumer is her new dog. Mrs. Bev Black is involved in the Resource Room, and sponsors Jr. High cheerleading and the Igloo. She enjoys sewing, and reading. Mrs. Clift indulges a good deal of her time in the Resource Room. She also involves herself in being the Sophomore class sponsor, and the cheerleading sponsor. Miss Holmquist is a special consultant. Among her many and varied talents she works with students to improve their studies. Faculty 19
