For two consecutive years the class has been awarded first place in the Homecoming float competition. In addition, the representatives of the class have received the honor of being princess. The Sophomores chose posters as their class moneymaker. They were also victorious over the school and faculty in the annual tug-of-war. The J.V. Basket- ball team, consisting of all Sophomores had a fantastic season record of 17 wins and 2 losses. Keep it up, Sophomores! In October, the High School Marching Band traveled to Michigan Center for a marching com- petition. They received a first division. In February, the jr. High Band re- ceived a first division at Class C District Festival, and finally, in March, the Sr. High Symphonic Band received a 1 at the Class C District Festival. The bands performed 3 concerts during the year. In addition to all home football games, the High School Band participated in the Hastings Christ- mas Parade, the Frontiers Day Parade in Charlotte, the Vermontville Maple Syrup Festival, the Blossomtime Parade in St. Joseph-Benton Harbor, and the Small Town Festival in Nashville. Also, the Stage Band and Dixieland Band have performed at various social events throughout the year. At this time, the MV Bands wish to express their gratitude to band direc- tor, Mr. Vito Tenerelli, for all his hard work and dedication, and also to the many Band Boosters and community citizens who have helped make being a bandsman an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. 106 Organizations Stage Band First Row: Carry Musser, Kevin Mix, Les Murphy, jim Bingham, Steve Wheeler, Tony Frith, Debbie jarrard.
