This was Mr. Forrest Rinehart’s first year as the principal of Maple Valley High School. Mrs. Patricia Kivela was the secretary until Christ- mas. At that time she was transferred to the super- intendent's office. High school principal and secretaries Mrs. Rachel Weiler was the high school secretary during the second half of the school year. 21

Board of education BACK ROW: Mr. John Viele; Mr. Chris King; Mr. Elmer Jarvey; Dr. Thomas Myers. FRONT ROW: Mr. Earl Geh- man, Pres.; Mrs. Edna Smith, Sec.; Mr. Reinhart Zemke, Treas. Maple Valley's Board of Education, consisting of Ver- montville and Nashville citizens, has accomplished many things during the past year. Some of their dut- ies included hiring all personnel, handling all finan- cial obligations and making final decisions on opera- tions of the school district. They also set many of the school policies and approved school activities. 22
