Y' lg I 174! Academic Divider A Strong Base The basic function of an academic institu- tion is to provide courses of study to pre- pare students for life. No matter what the area, Maple Shade enables its students to pursue classes which insure their success in life. The curriculum furnishes a multitude of choices. For the college bound student, there are English and Social Studies honors classes and independent study periods in Foreign Languages as well as advanced Math and Science courses. For those inter- ested in a business career, there are numer- ous choices for preparation with a business orientation. ln addition, COE and DECA al- low the students to participate in the work place. Art, music, child care, and home eco- nomics are alternative choices. Another component is industrial education which in- cludes wood shop, metal shop, printing shop and auto shop. The student is given hands on training in the area of choice. Computers, which are continuing to play an ever increasing role, can be mastered in Computer Science. Physical education, health, and driver's education round out the curriculum. Maple Shade offers something for every- one. A graduate of Maple Shade has a strong base with which to face the world.
