When in course of school events, it becomes necessary for the Senior Class to dissolve the educational bonds which have connected it to the other classes, and to assume the duties of citizenship for which their school life has prepared them, a decent respect to the opinion of the other classes requires that they should transcribe this history leading up to their graduation. We, the Senior Class of 1955, entered the halls of M,H.H.S. in the fall of 1951, feeling a bit apprehensive but eager to begin our higher education. Our class sponsor was Miss Tiffany. We chose for our officersg Ivan Yount, President, Arnold Gideon, Vice-President, Rosemary Nott, Secretary-Treasurer, to govern during our first session of school. As our second session convened, we elected as class officersg Rosemary Nott, Presidentg Galen Mote, Vice-Presidentg Arnold Gideon, Secretary. As Junior statesmen, we began our third session with Nell McClymond as our sponsor and officers being Arnold Gideon, Presi- dent, Erma Saddler Vice-Presidentg Rosemary Nott, Secretary. We ordered our class rings that year, had the Junior play Have a Heart and honored the seniors with the Junior-Senior Banquet at Hotel Jayhawk. Taking our places as Senior Statesmen, we accepted Mr. Kittrell and Mrs. Taylor as our sponsors. For our governing body we elect- ed Arnold Gideon, President, Erma Grubb, Vice-President, Rosemary Nott, Secretary, Ivan Yount, Treasurer, and Robert Oliver, Historian. This year it was our turn to initiate the freshmen, have Senior pictures made, be the honored guests at the Junior-Senior banquet, and wear the caps and gowns during this historical week in May. And for the support of this declaration and with a firm reliance on what the future holds for us, we mutually pledge. to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor. MAPLE HILL HIGH We the Senior Class of 1955, being sound of mind and body, do hereby make this our last will and testament. FIRST: We leave the title Senior to N this years Juniors, and the ability to agree or willingly compromise on all of Junk the problems which will arise in the Senior class meetings. SECOND: We leave our ability to learn to the sophomore class and hope that they can master all of their subjects. THIRD: To the freshmen, we leave our perseverance, realizing that it will be some time before they graduate. FOURTH: To the faculty we leave a little peace and quietness and freedom from all worries we might have caused them. FIFTH: I, Arnold Gideon, leave my ability to get along with the teachers, especially Mrs. Taylor, to Jack Pahmahmie. Also I leave my cor-net to Bob Werner, with the hopes that he will finish his senior year in band. Good luck Bob. l, Erma Grubb, leave my ability to marry young to anyone who is in a hurry, and hope they only use it once. I, Rose Nott, leave my girlish figure to Linda Pitts: my ability to handle the boys in the class goes with it.
