CLASS PROPHECY OF 1973 Looking to a quiet afternoon we find our class of '53 having a class reunion. We find everyone present except Pat who is always late. While waiting for Pat everyone is telling what they have been doing for the last 20 years. Carroll: After I graduated drom the U. of M., I entered law school and now I am a probate judge. This office was made possible to me under the help of my campaign manager, Alex Peplinski. Alex: In 1957 I graduated from Ferris Institute with a degree in pharmacy. Now I have a drug store in Cedar. Since business was poor last fall I thought I'd help out an old class mate. Last winter when I was in Florida, I met an old Friend, Frances Schettek. Frances: I'm working in Saint Joseph Hospital as an anesthetist. Two years ago one of my patients was Donna Brow. Donna; I am now working for Ronald Shupiery, who is the Pres- ident of the General Motors Company. Ronnie: I've been unusually successful in the last twenty years. I think most credit for my success can be given to Reynold Brow for encouraging me to keep going on in life. Reynold: I have also been successful in life not only being married and having two wonderful children, but I have a good job working for the Internal Revenue Department. While looking over one of the returns I came across a familiar name, Raymond Waslawski. Ray: I'm a farmer in Kasson Township. As for that income re- turn, that was my wife's mistake. You know how women are!! One day a big Cadillac got stuck in front of my house and much to my surprise there was Sharon. Sharon: The day Raymond pulled me out of the ditch I was going to my mothers after taking Pete to work. I left the children at mother's and went to get my hair fixed at Arlene's Beauty Shop in Glem Arbor. Arlene: I have my Beauty Shop running smoothly now. A few weeks ago I started a partnership with Philip. Philip: I have studied many women's hair styles. One day last week Louise came in and I gave her a poodle haircut as she is interested in dogs. Louise: I have many registered dogs on my large estate in Illinois and Bob Zientek is serving as a caretaker. Bob: One day as I was walking the dogs, I bumped into an old classmate, Cresence. Cres: I’ve been married for quite a few years and I've got a wonderful husband and two lovely children. Well, look who finally came in--Pat. Well, it's about time, Pat. Everyone has been telling about their lives in the last twenty years. Now it's your turn. Pat: I'm sorry I'm late but I had a flat tire on my atomic car. Well, all I've been doing in the last twenty years is setting up a truck line that runs to Alaska. We hope that everyone has enjoyed this class reunion and hope that we can have another one in twenty more years. CLASS HISTORY 49-50 This is the year we entered the Maple Cith High School, with the following students: Arlene Fritz, Sharon Cluff, Donna Brow, Frances Schettek, Patsy Sharnowski, Louise Kucera, Cresence Garvin, Proxes Skipski, Raymond Waslawski, Alex Peplinski, Ed- ward Nowak, Bob Zientek, Ronnie Shupiery, Philip Sharnowski, Carroll Sattler and Reynold Brow. Of course, since we were Freshmen, we were considered the zany green horns of the school and after a few days of school our friends the Sophomores wel- comed us with an initiation party. Fortunately, all of us survived. As we were just starting in our high school career we had many things to think about, one being to start a money campaign for a Senior trip. 50- 51 We came back to school in September and found our class had grown to 18 members since Marcella Nemeskal and Patrick Miller joined us. Now it was our turn to have fun so we initiated the Freshmen shortly after school started. 51- 52 School opened in September and as Juniors we found we had lost Proxes Skipski, Patsy Sharnowski, and Marcella Nemeskal. We got things rolling by staging a dance late in September. After this dance we began preparing for the Junior play, ’’The Funny Brats”, in November and it was a huge success. We raffled cakes at all home basketball games this year and when the year ended we had about $230 in our treasury. On May 16 the Junior classes of Isadore, Maple City, and Empire held a Junior-Senior Prom at the Glen Arbor Community Hall. 52-53 We started this year with a Washington or bust slogan and during the second week the class began preparing the annual. We all pitched in and put on dances, sold candy and pop, and by Feb. 1, had $700 in our treasury and at present we are planning our trip to Washington. During March we began preparing for our Senior play under the direction of Mr. Rader. This play was presented on April 24. Baccalaureate service were held on May 24 and on Com- mencement Day we graduated from Maple City High School. ACTIVITIES September--The Seniors got the ball rolling by staging a Hard Time Dance in later part of the month. October--The Sophomores put on an initiation party in honor of the Freshmen. In the later part of this month the Seniors put on the Third Annual Harvest Carnival in which all the classes of the schools participated. December--A Christmas Program was presented by the Centerville Township Schools. January--The Senior class held two dances this month on the 17 and 31. They also held a radio raffle this month which was raffled off at the last dance. February--A Lincoln program was presented by the High School. March--The girls and boys attended John Deere Day. The Fresh- man presented their play, Miss Chatterbox very successful! April--The Seniors presented the Senior play Cornin’ Around the Mountain !! The annual Athletic Banquet held in honor of the Basketball teams of MCHS was held on the sixteenth. May--The Seniors had their Senior trip to Washington D. C. Mr. and Mrs. Krull came along as chaparones. Also, the Com- mencement Exercises, Baccalaureate Services were held. The Junior-Senior Prom, sponsored by the Junior classes, was held May 1 at the Maple City Gymnasium. seniors r juniors The Junior Glass with their Advisor, Mr. Rader r freshmen Kasson Center Kindergarten, 1st 2nd Grades Teacher, Mrs. Coleman activities athletics PANTHERS In the 1952-53 basketball season the Panthers won 12 out of 14 WLT Conference games which put them in first place with Fife Lake.
