Concert is a Window to Past N 1 - BSU Boogie Dance 1- 8 - District Volleyball O 7 - Nostalgia Concert V 8- 9 - State Golf Tourney e 9 - District Cross Country m 'I6 - State Cross Country 22 - Chicano and Spanish Assembly e 25-30 - Spanish Honor Society Canned Food Drive I' 28-30 - Thanksgiving vacation Being a month for tournaments, volleyball participated in the District Tournament, Golf in the State Tournament, and Speech Team in several Speech Invitationals. Chorus presented a concert of Nostalgia, involving many of Manzano's students in song and accompanying dance. It was such a big hit that it was performed again in an assembly for the student body. Orchestra and wind ensemble both had concerts and participated in our district's solo and ensemble festival at the University. The French, German and Spanish Clubs invited Eldorado's correspond- ing clubs to attend their international Dinner, where all enjoyed food from different cultures. Typical of rides at the New Mexico State Fair. Once again, Big Barn registration proves successful, as each student can choose their own classes and teachers. Getting back to school and studying, Carmen Byrnes shows the studious at- titude of many. Our three finalists for Homecoming Queen, Mona Archibeque escorted by Danny Lucero, Cindy Barchus es- corted by lim Garcia, and Cindy Grig- gers escorted by Dave Flemming. leanne Shaw, a member of the Home- coming Court, with her escort at Man- zano's Homecoming Dance. With school ... comes sales ... of every kind. Pictured is Student Coun- cil's pencil sale and a smiling attempt at getting rid of a pencil. Cindy Griggers Crowned Queen 0 3- Seniors Elect Homecoming Court 7- vote for Monarch Day Queen C 7-12- Spirit Week T 11-MONARCH DAY- Homecoming Game vs. Valley O 12- Homecoming Dance 17- International Dinner B 18- Navy Band Concert E 22- Stage Band Concert 23- All City Concert R 31- Open Forum School days ... School days . .. began again this year Sept. 5th after Big Barn Registration on the 3rd and 4th, Not leaving much time to raise school spirit, there was still a good turnout for our first football game, followed by our first dance. Cheerleading clinic was held, and Arlene Adent,Teri Boultinghouse, Karen Condon, Tina Detrow, Annette Griego, and Amy Wilson were elected to lead Manzano's sophomore spirit. Sophomore class officers were elected soon after with females dominating Sophomore leadership, Kathy Costales, Pres., Chris Nunez, Vice-Pres., Kris- ty Graves and Mike Riggins, senators. Highlighting October was the crowning of Manzano's 1974 Homecoming Queen, Cindy Griggers. The Monarch's lovely finalists were Diana Aguilar, Mona Archibeque iprincessl, Cindy Barchus iprincessj, Sandra Bracken, Mary Chavez, jan Foster, Cindy Griggers iqueenl, Leslie McCarthy, Karla Meadows, Betty Sanchez, Jeanne Shaw, and Amy Widney. The dance was held in the cafeteria Saturday night following Friday night's game victory. M Club had a bonfire, in spite of rain, at which jeff Wieler was awarded the most darling Football Baby. The International Dinner was held again this year with all the Foreign Lan- guage Clubs helping, including our guests. Eldorado's Foreign Language Clubs 23

Mike Maes, out of breath after running in the district meet. He went on to take 'l3th in State. We're proud of you, Mike! Following the Chicano and Spanish Club assembly, Debbie Garcia, Chicano Club Presi- dent, offers guests from other schools a bowl of posole. Nostalgia Night brought out the teeny-bopper at its best in Delilah Toti as she sings Ain't That a Shame. Beautiful belle, Susan james, during a song in the Nostalgia Concert. Big Bill McClannan bee-boppin' to At the Hop with dancing screamers backing him up. Although at first glance they may look like Raggedy Ann and Andy, it is really Mike Mills and Debbie Norris during I know a place from the 1960's. He's the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B... sings the chorus in boogie rythm. Although the songs of the concert ranged from the 1920's to the 1970's and costumes to match, all age periods joined together to sing The Entertainers . 25
