sl 2 2 Hiking, backpacking, camping, swimming, listening to music, archery, and general sports, are what Eddy en joys doing and help him in several of his activities. He is a MDAA Summer Camp Counselor and an Eagle Scout Eddy was in the German and Speech Clubs here at Man zano and attended an Engineering Seminar at UNM He works at Stark's Cleaning Service, which takes up a lot of his free time. As far as future plans go, Eddy said I plan to go on to college and graduate with a degree in Medicine or in Forestry. I would also like to work in a Forest of Wildlife refuge during the summer or later on in the future. l'm active in my church. I am on various councils and boards. At present I am running for a National Board, said Cathy Costalles. Here at Manzano, Cathy is on the volleyball team, a basketball team manager, a member of Student Council and Student Senate- being president of the Sophomore class. Cathy likes to sew, ride bikes, travel, swim, read, write letters and all kinds of sports. I want to go on to college, major in P.E., Cathy said about future plans. I hope to be married, but then, whatever will be, will be. S G I I

Outstanding Monarchs... l would like to go into a music career of some kind, although l'm not positive about what I would like to do, said Mike Mills. Mike is in band and Modern Choir now. In both categories he is exceptionally talented, honored with All State for french horn and in the Albu- querque Youth Choral for his voice. He also sings with a gospel group called Rebound and is in his church choir. Mike likes to work with plants, swim, paint and write. Some of his writings appear in the Phaethon fthe literary magazinel. Mike was a singer as well as a dancer in West Side Story. He likes drama and would like to get involved with speech. P o S Only a sophomore, Cindy Cravens has already been involved with Student Government fSophomore Class Senatorl, Student Council, GAA, the Volleyball, Basket- ball and Softball teams. She plays PAL Softball, is a mem- ber of MuHeta, Hi-Y Service Club, and is a score keeper for the Albuquerque Youth Basketball League. Cindy likes swimming, horseback riding, back packing, many varied kinds of sports Cas you may have noticedl, travel- ing., camping, and fishing. The only permanent plans she has for the future is that she wants to go on to college. She's not sure where, yet, or what she will major in. S G I

Outstanding Monarchs... A member of Manzano's football and track teams, jeff Saavedra has lettered in both and is now a member of M-Club. He is faithful at working the concession stand at all basketball and wrestling events. jeff teaches swim- ming at Los Altos Pool to children of all ages and teaches recreation part time at the Valley Community Center. jeff likes to ski, go backpacking, swimming, motorcycling, and also scuba diving. He plans to go on to college. I'd like to major in Biology and after that, hopefully go into Marine Biology. I'd also like to continue to teach swim- ming. President of the junior Class, Donna is in Student Council and Student Senate. She is involved with basket- ball, volleyball, G.A.A., and the Black Stluudent Union. She does volunteer work for the Red Cross, the Retarded Children's Olympics, and helped with the jerry Apodaca gubenatorial campaign. She is also part of the Berean Baptist Youth Group, enjoys reading, creative writing, swimming, tennis, and cooking. Donna helped with Homecoming, the Prom, and the Pancake Dinner and is constantly willing to give of her time for anything sup- portive of Manzano. When asked about her plans for the future, Donna replied, I hope to become a lawyer and possibly go into politics.
