OUH MHS Cross Country Does Well in District Working with an essentially new team this year, with only Ronald Garcia returning, Manzano's Cross Country rolled up a 57,win, 20 loss cumula- tive record. Through hard work, they were able to mold together into two fine units. With all the new people, this was essentially a rebuilding year. The success we've had this year has to be contributed to a full team effort. We feel that we've got this program going now, and we're looking forward to a good season next year, with four of the six varsity runners returning and some strong runners coming up from B-team, said head cross country coach lim Arnold. Varsity ended the season with a 4th place dist- rict finish, which was led by Mike Maes and Ron Garcia, Team Captain Mike Maes took 3rd in dis- trict with 15:40. Mike is also the holder of the Manzano course record of 17:13. junior varsity placed second in district, led by Keith Chavez, who placed 3rd, and Bob Kinnard, who placed 5th.

Tony Randers, sophomore, voted most valuable sophmore, ran 4th man on the team. 4. Dave Miller, Senior, ran 3rd man on the team and placed 14th in the city. 5. Sonny Martinez, junior, ran 4th man on the team. 6. Robert Herrera, sophomore, ran 6th man on the team. 7.
