Tu S o O LI. Homecoming Game Won for Queen Cindy The 1974-75 Football season opened against the Clovis Wildcats, the defending state champions. The Monarchs played a good game, but a few mis- takes were made on punt returns ending with a final score of 0-27 in favor of Clovis. We did a good job of holding them back. The Monarchs went into the second half of the game with Highland 0-6, Highland. Coach Brum- mell said the second half was probably the sloppiest Manzano has ever played, ending the game with the score 0-35, Highland. The West Mesa game was a disappointing loss with four minutes left, the Mustangs drove down to our 2 yard line, scoring in the last 20 seconds, win- ning 13-20. The Monarchs came back against the Albuquer- que Bulldogs both offensively and defensively to take it19-0. We played a good defensive Homecoming game against Valley High, but they felt they should have scored more. Del Norte won 27-0, but we were pleased with our effort. The ball was moved well against the Academy, but we lost by field goal. We were leading Grants 3-0 when they got away for final touchdown. The game against Eldorado High was all in vain. With the score 14-6 Eldorado, they then intercepted a pass and ran for a touchdown. A field goal was scored in the Rio Grande High game by Alan Moore. He then scored a touchdown and the extra point to make it 10-0, an important game for the upcoming season. 98
