Charm, poise and a delightfully sweet personality make Marguerite Moynihan one of the Manzano's nicest people to work with. Her co-opera- tive attitude and her reliability have won her the affection and respect of both her teachers and fellow students. As editor-in-chief of the SCEPTER, Marguerite does a capable job of handling this demanding job. She was chosen as editor after having served as assistant editor as a junior and having won a staff award for excellence. .One of the hard working members of the student body and of her class, Marguerite can be counted on to be hard at work on every project. As a sophomore Marguerite belonged to the Pep Club, as a junior she was a Manzano delegate to the City-Wide Business Education competition in typing and a delegate to the Albuquerque Youth Council. Always willing to volunteer her services, she was one of Manzano's judges in the city spirit trophy competition. She has also made a valuable contribution to the efficient running of the school by working as an attend- ance office assistant as a senior. Swimming, and water-skiing, and bicycle riding, Marguerite's hobbies, demonstrate her enjoyment of activity and of the out-of-doors. Planning to attend the University of New Mexico next year, Marguerite is considering the possibility of majoring in journalism. MARGUERITE MOYNIHAN Senior JERRY SCHUSTER Senior A conscientious, hard-working leader, senior Jerry Schuster is one of the most outstanding and best-respected students at Manzano. That he enjoys the good opinions of fellow students as well as the faculty, is evidenced by his election as president of his class for two consecutive years. Currently, as senior class president, he has displayed his leadership qualities by being nominated as a candidate for the West Point Leadership Award, a candidate for the Outstanding Teenagers of America Award and being honored in the Albuquerque National bank's Salute to Albuquerque Teenagers in the local newspaper. As senior class president, he bears much of the responsibil- ity for organizing such things as the class project and the senior week activities in addition to heading fund raising and other functional projects ol' the class. Under his leadership, the seniors installed one of the most successful projects in the school's brief history, the snack bar which opened shortly after Christmas and has been an overwhelming success. He was also a delegate to Boys' State last summer. A student council member in his junior and senior years, Jerry was an ex-officio member of Inner Council those years. He is an active participant in other Manzano organizations. This year he was a member of Staters' Club, International Club and Modern Choir. As a junior, he was a participant in the Honor Choir and the Ski Club. An art enthusiast whose hobby is painting, Jerry plans to attend the Univer- sity of Colorado majoring in dentistry.

.7 CHUCK PETERSON Senior Holding one of the top positions available to a student, Student Body President Chuck Peterson has distinguished himself and the school by his conduct of the office. ln addition to student government, Chuck has had other interests in his high school career including music. As a sophomore Chuch was a member of the marching band and he was the accompanist for the Honor Choir as a junior. A student Council representative as a junior, Chuck attended a summer workshop which helped prepare him for his future responsibility as president of the student body. Chosen as a Boys' State delegate, Chuck was a county commissioner at the summer session, a member of Staters' Club and resigned the vice-presidency of Staters' Club in order to run for student body president. He is also a member of Interna- tional Club but he devotes the major portion of his time to overseeing the projects and activities of the Student Council. Winner of the city Elks Youth Leadership Award, Chuck has advanced to the state competition. A consist- ently fine student who has been on the honor roll at Manzano throughout his high school career, Chuck represents Manzano at state and district student council meetings, the Exchange Day program and other local home- comings in addition to presiding over Manzano's Homecoming assembly and a majority of the other assemblies throughout the year. Planning to major in accounting, he hopes to attend North Texas State University at Denton, or Jacksonville University in Florida. His major hobby is playing the pipe organ, and he has taken organ lessons at UNM for three years. Sweetness coupled with dependability and competency has won for sen- ior Pam McCan the Whe's Who recognition this year and the affection and good opinions of her fellow classmates and of her teachers. Pam's superior scholarship placed her in National Honor Society, and her fellow scholars chose her to serve as president this year. As president of the Honor Society, Pam was largely beneficial in the organization of the senior counseling sessions which were initiated this year to advise students on the selection of a college or the choice of a post-high school career. Her election to the senior Inner Council placed on her a responsibility for many of the Student Council activities, and her willingness to work and her reliability made her an invalua- ble aid to the activities of the school. Having belonged to Pep Club and Creative Dance as an underclassman, Pam also participated in Ski Club, National Spanish Honor Society, International Club, Tennis Club and Stu- dent Council. Serving as a faculty assistant, Pam enjoys sewing, skiing, swimming, tennis, and playing the piano. A major in math will be Pam's goal when she attends either the University of Colorado or the University of Kansas. PAM MCCAN Senior

fx ,L 2?X,y,,f,.Y,f-af... au., PAM HERIGODT Junior A lovely and poised lady and a superior student, Pam Herigodt has devoted most of her extra-curricular energies at Manzano to student govern- ment, music and the promotion of school spirit. A Baron cheerleader last year, Pam is one of only four juniors who were chosen for the Who's Who this year. She has been an Inner Council member both as a sophomore and as a junior, and she has assumed many responsibilities in the student Council functions. She was chairman of Student Council committees on Homecom- ing decorations, constitutions, and on the Christmas greetings to the other schools. She has represented Manzano at district and state student council meetings, at the Homecoming assemblies of other high schools, and at the Exchange day. She was one of the Manzano entrants in the Elks Youth Leadership Contest and was a Who's Who nominee as a sophomore. Work- ing for her class, Pam has collected dues and helped with many of their sales campaigns. She has also been one of the reliable workers on the decoration committees for virtually every project. She has been a member of the Modern Choir for two years and also participated in Speech club and French club. In the Pep club, where she is vice president, Pam was on the Powder Puff football team. All of these activities have not impaired her studies, however as she maintains an honor roll standing consistently and has frequently earned a 4. average. Pam, whose hobbies include swimming, singing and talking is considering the possibility of a math major with a minor in music. Although college is a year away, she may attend either Louisiana State University or Alabama State. A relaxed attitude and a slow grin identify junior class president Johnny Hill, one of the four juniors to receive the Who's Who recognitiori this year. As a sophomore, Johnny participated in both Baron football and wrestling, however, an injury cut short his wrestling and made it unfeasible for him to continue in the athletic program. Concentrating his energies on student government, then, he has, as class president, taken a major role in the planning, organization and accomplishment of all junior class projects. He will direct the junior class's major endeavor later this spring when the juniors host the seniors at the prom. An ex-officio member of Inner Council as class president, he must also assume responsibility for many of the council activi- ties and program. Working in the activities office during his study hall, Johnny was an efficient and willing assistant. In addition to his school activities, Johnny works as an orderly at a local rest home and his experience there has inspired him to contemplate a future career in medicine or nursing. Another career consideration at this point is aviation, and Johnny expects to attend the University of New Mexico. His service obligation is a matter of deep concern to Johnny and he is undecided as to whether he will fulfill it before or after college, however, he does hope to tour Southeast Asia in the military and as much of the rest of the world as possible. Outdoor activities appeal greatly to Johnny who lists fishing, hunting, and hiking as some of his favorite hobbies. He also enjoys bowling and is eager to develop a keener appreciation of the fine arts, in this pursuit, he enjoys attending good movies, plays and art shows. He also likes motorcycle and automobile races. JOHNNY HILL Junior
