Cheri Thornbrough and her date Don Jones enjoy themselves at the Sadie Hawkins Dance. Mrs. Diane Moore prepares to take over the classes of Robert Roberts while he completes his master's degree at the University. By February the life of the Manzano students has settled into a dull same- ness. The routine of everyday would soon become unbearable if some diversion were not created. This diversion comes in the form of organized sports and activities. February bought the climax of Twirp Week activities-the assembly where Bonnie Chavez was crowned Twirp King and the annual Sadie Hawkins Dance. February also climaxed the winter sports season with district finals beginning in basketball and wrestling. Students also received a much needed and unscheduled vacation when the teachers, in protest over inadequate school financing, walked out for the last week of the month. The three Twirp King candidates Bonnie Chavez, Rex Davis, and Chris elected with over S70 in penny votes. Waiting to officiate at the coronation Martin wait expectantly for the announcement of Twirp King. Bonnie was are Homecoming royalty, Laurie WUS011, Sheffyl Sharpe and Trish Rattan.
