Cooking, sewing, budget management and child care invariably play some part in every girlls life, and many girls will assume such work as a full time responsibility. As a preparatory and informative course, Today,s Living invited both boys and girls to discuss problems that most often occur in families. Provid- ing a thorough background for work in the dietary, fashion designing and decorat- ing fields, home economics classes have for years, proved to be worthwhile. i- nnual Shows Feature Fashions

The metal work, wood and drafting shops develop consumer literacy and useful skills as well as educating the student in procedures, safety routines, and co-operative attitudes. Such classes encourage self-expression through developed skills. Each class builds student appreciation of the industry involved. Safety lectures precede the actual working experiments. Industrial arts are of extreme significance and such classes are invaluable. Salomon Mora and Edmun Hatcher prepare to cut their wood for individual wood shop projects. 4I

'N Practicing for one of the many chorus concerts, Marsha Grover rehearses during her chorus class. DAVID MUTH Choral Music JIM BENNER Department Chairman Band, Music Theory In today's fast-paced society everyone needs some ac- tivity which will relax him and give him the energy to con- tinue his daily routine. For many this relaxation comes in the form of music. Students at Manzano are given the oppor- tunity to participate in the field of music they find most satisfying-orchestra, band, or choral music. Those inter- ested in the principles of music may enroll in music theory. Students who do not want direct participation in specific areas of music find that Manzano's music appreciation course will give them a better understanding of the music which others perform. Students enrolled in any of these music courses will find themselves nearer to a fuller and more relaxed life.
