Not only should a student be able to adequately read and write English, but he should also be familiar with the important literature of the world. The English department at Manzano fulfills both of these goals. Sophomores study a general survey of literature, juniors study American literature, and seniors may study either world or English literature. In the junior and senior years the student may elect to have his literature courses correlated with his history studies. All of the English courses give the student a richer knowledge of world litera- ture and the English language.
