Girls working in the office get some early secretarial experience while relieving some of the pressures of the secretaries' job. Boys interested in the operation of audio-visual equipment can learn by helping Lee Steffen in his extra duties. They are irreplaceable in their work as they operate projectors and recorders as an additional service for their school. Its goal is to advance the knowl- edge of basic theory and to promote a greater interest in the field of radio. The Man- zano Chess Club provides both of these for all who are interested in this classical game. Though chess is basically an individual game, the club, sponsored by Allan Biefield, has participated as a team in many inter-school tournaments. Bookroom Assistants Help aintain Texts The job of taking care of the school's textbooks falls to the bookroom helpers. These students give of their time in re- pairing damaged books, listing lost books, and keeping track of the texts on the shelves. They also assist Mrs. Ruth Cooney in all other aspects of bookroom. In a job which is much harder than it would initially seem, these students per- form an invaluable service for the stu- dents and faculty of Manzano. Bookroom assistants: Sheryl McFadden, Cheryl Van Bibber, Nancy Brunt, Ronnie Jimenez, Mrs. Ruth Cooney Front row: Mary Daniels, Marsha Braaten, Penny Robinson, Jan Pratt, Library assistants perform a valuable assistance to the school. These students use their study halls to assist in shelving books, check- ing out books, assisting with reference materials, and providing assist- ance for any students who need help in finding a specific book or information. They also help the librarians in processing and cataloging new books as they arrive and in mending the older worn books.
