The Loudspeakers of Manzano are probably the most appropri- ately named members of any organization, for they comprise the Manzano Speech Club, sponsored by Mrs. Susan Liston. Wherever Manzano is represented by these talented young speech students, it gains honors. Speakers can participate in several different categories involved in speech, novice gl senior debate, dramatic reading, oral interpretation, extemporaneous speaking 8: oratory. The Speech Club sold candy throughout December in order to raise funds for an out-of-town trip SL to pay N.F.L. dues. The Speech Club is made up of hard working, civic minded young people deter- mined to use their rights of free speech. Trip to Mexico Highlights Activities of Spanish Club Officers: Sharon Eckardt, pres, Alen Carlson, treasg Liz Longley, secg Sharon Aragon, v-pres.: Seated: Alice Wright, Nancy Sylvester, Debbie Carter, Linda Sievert, Nancy Kise Debbie Pinnell, Carolyn Lutrell, Trish Rattan, Paulette Lowe, Mary Frindtg Standing Kathy Knauth, Pat Parke, Randee Hinkle, Craig Dell, Julie McCord, Nancy Bissel Students studying the Spanish language or those merely interested in Spanish and Mexican culture will find that their interests give a satisfied feeling in the Spanish club, sponsored by Miss Frances Gomes. The club discusses on topics of interest to the members. They also make an annual trip to Chichuahua, Mexico, with any other language student who wishes to participate. On this tour they see many of the cultural attractions of the beautiful Mexican city. In many ways the Spanish Club is beneficial and entertaining for all those who participate.
