The Loudspeakers of Manzano are probably the most appropri- ately named members of any organization, for they comprise the Manzano Speech Club, sponsored by Mrs. Susan Liston. Wherever Manzano is represented by these talented young speech students, it gains honors. Speakers can participate in several different categories involved in speech, novice gl senior debate, dramatic reading, oral interpretation, extemporaneous speaking 8: oratory. The Speech Club sold candy throughout December in order to raise funds for an out-of-town trip SL to pay N.F.L. dues. The Speech Club is made up of hard working, civic minded young people deter- mined to use their rights of free speech. For some students geometry, algebra elementary functions and the other math courses offered are simply not sufficient in satisfying their curiosity and enjoyment of math. For these students, who will probably continue their studies of math on to the highest levels, Howard Piatt sponsors the Manzano Math Club.
