Members of the club are carefully selected by old members according to their work on essays and interviews. The club is comprised of sen- iors who have represented Manzano at Girl's State and Boy's State as representatives or alternates dur- ing the summer preceding their senior year. These students serve Manzano in many vital ways, by running school elections, arranging recep- tions to allow students to meet the foreign exchange student and welcome her, and in general, encourage patriotism among all of the students throughout the year. Sponsored by Miss Sharon Banks and Jerry Long with Doug Gunn serving as president, the Stat- ers have been successful in every attempt.
