DQ I-IGIQACE M SNYDEIQ DR SNYDER became Prmcxpal of Man ual Apr1l 1917 I-hs tnaugural address prlnted 1n the Prospect of that date bore the prophet1c capt1on We llve 1n deeds not years Thls prophecy or prom1se has been more than ful f1lled for the adm1n1strat1on of Dr Snyder has been blessed w1tl'1 years as well as deeds The physrcal expans1on of Manual wh1ch now affords faculty and stu dents the convenlences of an up to date h1gh school IS by thls t1me taken as a matter of course lt IS a b1t hard to reahze that not so long ago th1s was as remote as a dream lt was due ma1nly to the labors patfence and perslstent effort of Dr Snyder 1n the face of many obstacles and re peatecl d1sappo1ntments that thls dream frnally became a reahty Th1s rnaterral expansxon of Manual wh1ch has done so much for the phys1cal comfort and wellbe1ng of teachers and puplls 1S tndeed sub stant1al but Dr Snyders accomphshments along educat1onal l1nes are no less noteworthy Long before the war enforced the lesson upon us Dr Snyder was aware that the tradmonal htgh school course was made quate to meet the ever changtng ever more complex soctal needs And wrth rare v1s1on he proceeded to mould the curr1culum more closely to the DR SNYDER IN l9l7 needs and capab1l1t1es of the boys and glrls of th1s communlty To h1m belongs the cred1t of found1ng Brooklyn Techntcal I-hgh School fAnd what a valuable asset toward the war effort Manuals vtgorous educatlonal off spr1ng has becomell ln Manual the reorgan1zat1on and enr1chm nt of the currlculum made steady progress under the d1rect1on of Dr Snyder And now a student may choose any one of four courses and carry on hts work wlthm the course chosen on the h1ghest level of hts ab1l1ty thanks to Honors and spec1al classes Wh1le preoccupted w1th these adm1n1strat1ve problems Dr Snyder contxnued to lay the greatest emphas1s on the well rounded development of the student Hts enthus1ast1c support of athlettcs h1s encouragement of extra curr1cular act1v1t1es h1s fa1th 1n student government all contnbuted 1n makmg the work 1n Manual truly Educanon for Democracy The war fthe second t1me 1n Dr Snyder's admxmstrattonl has brought new respons1b1l1t1es to our Pr1nc1pal teachers and students of Manual and has made 1t essentral to red1rect all the act1v1t1es of the school so that they may bear effecttvely on the war effort The success wlth whlch Dr FIVE O I 1 - - tm . 1 - 11 . , . 1 1 . , . . . , . - 1 , . , . .
