The department meets all requirements that are set up by the State Board of Cos- metology. At the end of the course, a student will have studied all phases of Cosme- tology found in a modern beauty salon. Home Service is a course that provides a student with the opportunity to learn professional standards of all phases of homework. The units offered are Special Home Duties, Care and Preparation of Food, Table Setting and Service, Laundering Methods, Child Care, Cleaning and Care of the Home, and Home Mechanics. BARBERING CLASS The Barbering Class at Manual was organized in 1942 with Mr. Coleman as advisor. Students who satisfactorily complete 1, OOO clock hours in this course may become licensed and eligible as journey- man barbers upon passing the State Examination. The Barbering Department is under the supervision of the State Board of Barber Examiners. COMMERCIAL ART I' r E The Commercial Art Department at Manual was organized in 1960 under the direction of Mr. B. I. Coleman. Students enrolled in this class do valuable work for the school. Included among their pro- jects are Commercial Bulletin Drawing, Truck Lettering, Silk Screen Lettering, Gold Leaf Lettering and Creative Art.
