This is really the result ot' seience on the third lloor. To understand more elearly the suhjeets involved in seienee elasses, pupils take field trips, intently view movie films, and listen raptly to many interesting' speakers unfolding the mysteries of liiology, Geology, Astronomy, Physies, and Uhemistry. Next door to the Biology room is the Chemistry room. as one ean readily tell hy the strong odor of ehemieals invading one's nostrils. l'erhaps, yes, perhaps, an exiperi- ment has heen perforined aeeurate- ly. .Xeeuraey and study eomlhine to make an experiment sueeessful. Inside, girls in start-hy white uniforms inix, stir, and anxiously hope for presentalnle results. Amid this group of eager girls, works the instructor, patiently answering questions and giving needed advice. Soon flaky golden hrown peaeh pies are removed from the ovens. A sophomore is lis- tening to the sales talk of an M. A. P. salesman. But, what is an M. A. P. ? asks the bewildered sophomore. HM. A. P. stands for Manual Activity Program, explains the salesman. By purchasing an M. A. P. you receive tickets to the football, basketball, and baseball games, plus a picture coupon, the school newspaper, and the annual. The complete M. A. P. is much more economical to buy than participating in each activity separate- ly. And the coste-only four dollars and fifty cents, or fifty cents a month. Upon realizing the great value the sophomore exclaims, Sign me up for thc- coinpleteln The contract is written and signed, and the student is very pleased with the 'tswell deal he has just made. The conversion fails. The never-say-die red and blue clad players come right hack and make another touchdown. The placekicker, the game depending' o11 his ac- curacy, kicks. A moan comes from the spectators as the hall goes Wide of the mark. Hut wait! An offside is called on our opponent. VVe get another try. This time the quarterliack calls for a center plunge. The is snapped and the fullback charges into the center of the line. The referee digs into the pile to End the hall. He raises his arms! Victory! A proiiiising Manual eleven started the league in a very tight game. A good offensive was lacking, lillt a tight and strong defensive held a mighty East team to a 0 to fi score. The second encounter between the two teams was one of the most excit- ing and spectacular games of the season. The final score was a 13 to lil deadlock. The first battle with South was disappointing as the Rebels outclassed our lioys 011 a muddy field. The South Denver team made good use of breaks to down a fight- ing' Manual team 0 to 21. ln the second game tl1e Franklin street boys showed a dis- tinct improvement in their play, but despite the fact that they ontplayed the oppo- nent, South pushed across a touchdown in the last quarter and came out the victor. The Bricklayers ,fought -their hardest, and with strong determination they fought off all threats ending the game in a scoreless tie. The next meeting of the two teams was on a very cold morning. The hard ground offered poor footing for the speedy back and several of the best men received injuries enabling the strong Cowboys to take a 22 to 0 win. In both encounters the North team proved to be easy meat for the Manual squad. In the first game the Bricklayers really showed their power by rolling up more yardage and more first downs than any team in the league, but the fighting Vikings stood off many scoring threats and held the game score to 14 to 0. The second time the two teams met, our boys again showed their power and despite the second- half 'splurge by the North team, which ended in a touchdown, the game ended in a 13 to 6 victory for us. The lights go lowg the Grand March begins. Then suddenly a streamer falls and with it comes many bal- loons. But alas! Too soon the strains of Home Sweet Home fill the gym, and tired but happy couples start toward the door. SADIE HAWKINS DANCE BENEATH valentine streamers of red and white, Iiil' Abners, Daisy Maes and sundry citizens of Dogpatch strut their stuff to the mu- sic of an overall-clad orchestra. Sadie Haw- kins is honored by Manual students, and the girls get a chance to take their favorite boy- friend to a dance! Laughter and fun reign as learned judges pick the best looking citizens of Dogpatch, and honor them accordingly. Aw, shecks! The orchestra is playing its theme, and that means we gotta lea.ve. THUNDERBIRD TIIE time is March 21, the scene is the Manu- al gym, decorated in the gay pastel colors of Spring. The event-the Sweater Dance and the chiaracters-the happy-go-lucky guests of Thunderbirds, happily and gaily dancing to the rhythm of a Spring Serenade. Suddenly the music changes and a Spanish atmosphere arises as the orchestra plays the lla Congag the dancers are quick to catch the rhythm 'and are soon drowning their troubles in happiness. Now the chimes toll out announcing the Mid- night hour and the evening is at an end. IUNIOR-SENIOR PROM IDEAS and plans have become a realization. Many weeks of work by students and teachers come to an end as the long awaited Junior- Senior Prom arrives. The beautiful red, white, and blue decora- tions provide a fitting se-t. The Prom Queen is crowned in all the pomp and ceremony of a cor- onation. Fragrance of sweet peas and roses combined with the strains of soft music and gaiety make this evening a memorable one in the life of all those who attend. .
