Al was handicapped by injuries, but when he was able he was a very tough man in the forward wall. To hit Bing was like striking a stone wallg and while he sul- fered several injuries, he held a regular position. Walt was only a sophomore, but we look forward to more of his excellent playing in the coming seasons. 'WiIlie took over the tough job ol center for the first time and turned out to be a full-time performer. ........l 7.--.M Jack, chosen as captain of the team, played successfully at several positions throughout the season. Joe, a junior, was like dynamite on the field, even though he was the smallest man on the squad. Lou was a scrapper who was a faithful perlormer during his three years at Manual. Though he received many injuries, Ed was always on hand when he was most needed. l Tom, known as l-luskie, has served Manual's Football squad lor three successive seasons and has been active in nearly every game played during that time. The Flying Dutchman, who called signals from the quarter- back position, was chosen the most valuable man on the team. i'Don, though only a sophomore, more than proved his abil- ity to play the game and take Hit. Neve, the bashlul man ol the squad, will be remembered for his speed and his extemporaneous Mass Meeting speech. if -f - ' ' '-'Y' 'f1 Emmett was a transfer from Woodruff Higlw and was very useful in the Manual baclcfield He was one of tfw Hngavicsn on the team and was vcry uscfullin tfwe forward wall. t xnxx lQ fa: Charley Gross Les wa! one of the l1eavies on the team that are always necessary to hold the line. Sportsmanship was one of his major ideals. This ideal was upheld in the many contests in which he played for Manual. Many times in the heat of battle of a basketball game the Manual team would have met defeat if it were not lor his scoring ability. His cool-headedness set an example lor the whole team. His last contribution to the Manual victories was his part in winning the Peoria City Championship of 1941. For every pleasure we must pay with a sorrow. No matter how great that sorrow may be it is always lessened by mem- ories. We have the memories of a Manual boy whose school spirit and high ideals could be equaled by few. V N ' QQ.. as 'E vm-. Schmidt Secretary of Admissions, Bradley College, Peoria, Illinois President-Dr. Frederic R. Hamilton Registrar-Mr. Asa Carter RADLEY is a non-sectarian, coeducational college with a program which unites a liberal education, preparation for a mrajor interest, and experience in practical life under guidance and counsel. The carefully selected student body of 950 comes from forty states and four foreign countries. Bradley is on the approved list of the Association of American Univer- sities and the American Association of University Women. It is accredited by the North Central Association offolleges and Secondary Schools as a degree-granting institution, by the University of Illinois with Class A stand- ing, and by the Illinois State Department of Public Instruction. Bradley has unusually large curricular offerings for a small college. Besides regular liberal arts courses, there are departments in business administration, home economics, industrial education, music, art, and nursing. It has a na- tional reputation. ATHLETICS . Bradley supports and is interested in inter-collegiate and intra-mural athletics. In addition to a schedule of football, basketball, baseball, traclc, and tennis, which is arranged each year with leading middle western col- leges and universities, the division of intra-mural athletics provides a well organized program which gives meaning to the aim, Sports for All. Such teams participate in all of the games mentioned above and in golf, archery, wrestling, hand ball, volley ball, swimming, tumbling and boxing. EXPENSES Bradley is not an expensive college for the student. It is endowed and is constantly increasing its resources in order that students will be required to pay as small a fraction of the cost of an education as possible. The tuition is very reasonable. This is especially noticeable when comparison is made with other standard colleges which do not offer as extensive technical, scien- tific, and laboratory courses.
