Fnrnwnrd One hundred years ago another group of '49ers discovered gold. We, class of '49, have discovered something much more important- Knowledge. Yes! knowledge. It takes more than just a few days of mining. It takes four long years of unremitting effort. Some of us fell out along the way as in every group of explorers. Many attained their goal while the rest kept searching on. Taking many different courses, we strove to reach our destination. In the end we all met, only to depart again and pursue our different ways. We hope some of us set patterns for the younger generation to come, such as building a stronger nation by our knowledge for peace, for per- sonal respect, for authority. We, the modern '49ers, while looking back upon yester years realize how much we have gained by the patterns of those who went be- fore us. We do hope that we have left a bit of improvement for those to come. ln leaving the halls of Manual High and Vocational School we set out for a new goal, to attain the pursuit of happiness, success, and achievement. Yes! we the seniors of today, go forth with great determination to explore the world to come. We hope you, the future seniors of tomorrow enjoy Manual as much as we have. i l W llhtfd W Page 3
