MICHE ' J ' I M r ' -m ' - - This Is The Beginning Of A Successful End High School - the beginning. Where you take all the knowledge of previous years and it all comes to life. Where you really prepare for the rest of your life. After high school, your life changes. For some of us there will be college, others will go to trade school, or jobs, or into the army. There we will learn about life. There is where we will make our lives successful. High school is the learning ground. High school is where you shape your life. Where you take the right courses. Those courses can be anything from pre-caulcus to Auto Mechanics to physics to Art 4 to Advanced Speech to Advanced Drama. Where you study hard and work hard, and you reap the benefits. In their monthly meeting they discuss the everchanging needs of the Compton Unified School District. Their aim is to improve their way of helping the students of Compton attain a better education. Mr. Oxhorn, assistant principal is new this year at Dominguez. Heading up activities he has been busy around campus seeing that the pep assemblies are set. She trys to solve problems that arise on campus. Taking care of new school courses that are taught at Dominguez. Mrs. Wynola Kerry - Principal I believe firmly in the obligation of the public schools of California. Our schools must serve the broad interests of the students of Compton so that they can be prepared for the world in which we live. Our schools are the modern instruments to assist the students in their personal quest for self-improvement and should, therefore, be a center of learning, should be a center in the search for new and better ideas, ideas which can be put to wise use. The development and interpretations of new knowledge and creative work are an important function of our schools. We want to afford students individual attention, experiences in friendly groups, broad curricula, and superior opportunities for those that are college bound. We are proud of Dominguez High School, proud qf its past history, and proud that together we are seeking a better-future for the students who will be entering. Mrs. Wvnola Kerry left: Mr. Arroyo thinks he caught someone in the wrong, right: Dr. Boyd, Area 2 Administrator along with Dr. Kennedy take a tour around campus with Mrs. Kerry. John has been accepted to West Po int, an honor very few students receive. He has been involved in many clubs including Los Charros, French Club, Lettermen ' s Club, Speech Team, Model Cities Youth Council, House of Representatives, Senate, and Cabinet. John has shown outstanding leadership abilities. 1 n the first semester of his junior year he was elected Student Body Vice-President, in the first semester of his senior year he was elected Student Body President. In addition, John is a three year member of the Tennis Team. John is also a sealbearer, and after he finishes college he will go on to graduate school to become a corporate lawyer or neuro-surgeon. During his three years at Dominguez, John has shown his concern for the school, and has learned from his experiences at Dominguez. It has been an enjoyable three years, for I have experienced many different types of people, and that is an education. During the three years Albert Frazier has been at Dominguez, he has proven that he is not only capable as a scholar, but, he is also capable as a leader. We have seen both of these in the scholastic awards he has won and in the activities he has been involved in. Albert, a sealbearer, has received numerous awards in mathematics and science, including a Bank of America Award. His plans are to attend a major university and pursue a study of math. Albert is involved in many clubs including CSF, Model Cities Youth Council, Lettermen ' s Club, and President of Los Charros. He is also on Cabinet, Senate, and in the House of Representatives. To fully round out his life, Albert is a member of the Wrestling Team and a three year member of the Tennis Team. Albert feels that while he was at Dominguez, he was able to meet new people, experience new things and broaden my knowledge. Salu John a Juan Macedo When you look at these scholars, you see students of all walks of life, from cheerleaders to members of Student Cabinet. Pursuing studies in such courses as mathematics, laboratory science, English, and Fine Arts. These students are ready to cope with the world. They have proved they are scholars in every sense of the v ord. Bank Of America Award Winners: Specialists In Their Field Nominated bv tlu ' teachers in those fields, thesi students will receive the Bank of America Award. This award shows the skill of these students in their particular field. This award stands for long hours of studying, many times reaching far into the night. Many of these students will go on to compete for scholarships valued up to $1,000.00. Trades Industr Dominguez High Sealbearers Being a Sealbt-ari-r is an honor crv few studt-nts receive. To Have Worked With To have worked with the students of Dominguez High School, trying to capture their emotions and trying to put them on paper in the El Espejo is not a one-man job, and 1 would like to thank all of those people who worked to make this yearbook a success. Thanks to the Faculty, for accepting all of the excuse slips, allowing us to come into your classroom to take pictures, and borrowing your students from time to time. To ha e worked with the First Semester Student Cabinet was a rare pleasure, and I thank them for all of their help. This yearbook will surpass all other yearbooks because of the students of Dominguez High School, who volunteered to take pictures, who missed classes, and gave us ideas to use. When the Yearbook needed help, these students were there, ready to assist in any way possible. A special Thank You to the Yearbook Staff. All of you have had to work under totally different circumstances, and you have produced a quality yearbook that the entire student body will be proud of! Thanks to Mr. Harman for all of your help and support throughout this year in making this yearbook a success. It ' s pictures that make up a yearbook and the help of Bill Roth was greatly appreciated. Even though you were late, you always came when needed. One of the reasons this yearbook will be remembered long after the year 73-74 comes to a close is because of your dedication. It has been a rare pleasure working with these people, and when we look back on the year 1973-1974, the El Espejo will be remembered, because of their efforts. Have a great, fantastic.
