Commemorating Black History Week During the week of February 1 2 through February 1 6 Black History Week was commerated at Dominguez and throughout various communities To help celebrate Black History Week, students on campus presented speeches on subjects such as Civil Rights. Black Brotherhood and Respect for ourselves and others During the lunch periods the drama club performed impromptu skits for the student body to en)oy An art exhibit was m the library, sponsored by Mr Chan At the end of the week the annual Black history assembly was presented to the faculty and students Participating in the assembly were the band. the modern dance group, the mumulinis. all of the Dominguez choirs and two guest speakers There was a Mr and Miss Afro contest with great competition, but winning the titles for 1973. were McClinton Boulton and Dorothy Worthy, both sutdents received a trophy for their fine costume Mr Patterson directs band in a song relating to Black History Mr and Miss Afro McLinton Boulton and Dorothy Worthy One of ihe guest speakers at the Phillip Roy discusses The Black Image i assembly motion pictures

i TEARS There comes a time m everyone ' s life when the work has to cease and the fun and games begin This fact of life isn ' t lacking at Dominguez We have many signs of life at school but there has to be someone to light a fire under all the little sparks and gather them to make any group activity work This takes leaders and we have the right ingredients to get everything underway for the final products, activities Organization is needed to make anything happen and we have many clubs for this purpose Activities need to be of various types and because variety is the spice of life we have a variety of clubs to satisfy all types of people at Dominguez. Among the activities are the traditional Homecoming, dances, many speech tournaments, plays, movies, and finally the biggest concert at Dominguez High School, ever We the students at Dominguez had the honor of having the first benefit concert given by the great Billy Preston As all good things have to end we have to leave Dominguez High School but we will always hold with us the memories of the activities, friends and always the TEARS of happiness.
