To understand the question in relationship to Dominguez High School, reality is going to be put up front. Where would an athlete be without the coaches? The harsh, grueling, muscle aching hours of practicing, studying, and repracticing that the coaches inflict on them. But then again, where would a coach be without an athlete? Blood, fiction or fact is involved with sports, so we give you BLOOD. Where would the educator be if no one was there to educate? Empty desks, empty buildings, no school. And how would the student learn if there was no educator? It is very hard and sometimes impossible to have one without the other. But if we work together learning will be resumed once again. The opening of books, the scratching of pencils and finally the testing of what was taught. The sweat of the teachers making up the exam compared to the students taking it is running a close race. So to education we give you SWEAT. And finally we come to the sector that rounds out our reality. Activities. What would a dance be without dancers, a candy sale without sellers, and a play without actors and actresses. Separate the two and you have nothing, but TOGETHER makes all the difference. Tears of joy and tears of sorrow are elements that make up activities, so we shall dedicate TEARS to you. BLOOD, SWEAT and TEARS is our reality and hopefully WE THE PEOPLE can see it together. IF 1 HAD THE TIME If I had the time to find a place And sit me down full face to face With my better self, that stands no show In my daily life that rushes so. U S C -MM I I  SWEAT For many people education makes them no difference one way or the other but for many others education is the purpose for coming to school. Academics is what school is all about and many students at Dominguez realized that a while back and figured that they would make the best of something they could not change, and for some change wasn ' t desired At Dominguez to be a good teacher is almost like performing magic tricks for some and slave driving for others because of the lack of materials, but as a whole we, the students and they, the teachers did what they could to make use of what have and excepted the fact that there wasn ' t enough materials. Instead of dwelling on that fact the faculty and students spent their energy using and making the most of what was available There are many kinds of educational programs to choose from Also there are a variety of classes at Dominguez to choose from The students and faculty work faithfully together to make Dominguez a highly academic school But the SWEAT It took to accomplish this feat IS worth it 33 You Leave Home Seeking a Life of Your Own. It took good coaches and good athletes who weren ' t afraid of hard work because that is what it took to make Dommguez rate high in the area of sports To face the cold hard facts It took hours of practicing and sometimes brutal punishment to their own bodies to condition for the harder times to come, the real thing, competing against the other schools BLOOD is a reality, whether it is blood of the opponent or the blood of our fellow athlete, it IS there. As A SB. president I have learned things that I will never forget I have learned that I am somebody, but that I am no better than anybody else I have learned that presidency is not a one-man job Before I got involved in student politics, I did not feel at liberty to express my ideas Before I got the recognition that other leaders of the school have gotten, I felt as if I did not count and therefore I did not do anything That was my greatest misconception While I was looking to others to get the )ob done, i should have been looking to myself My advice to everyone is do not make the same mistake I made Instead of recognizing me, recognize yourself, because as far as student lies in your hands The problem of apathy can be solved only when all of you realize that you are somebody too Bonita Bradshaw-lst Semester ASB President, feels that serving as president was an experience It takes a lot of responsibility and a lot of patience It has its good times and has its bad times When a student runs for an office, he must be willing to work because he can hold back progress of not only himself but of his fellow class mates The responsibility is a big one, if one devotes all of his spare time Everyone should be involved in school government If you feel that you ' re not satisfied with your education and that things aren ' t being done right, get involved in your student Government and find out what you can do and where you stand You ' re no different from anyone else, you should be given the same opportunity to succeed as any of your peers 166 Hard Work and Determination . . .
