For a little bit of thoughtfulness that shows someone you care Creates a ray of sunshine for both of you to share — Yes, every time you offer someone a helping hand. Every time you show a friend you care and understand, Every time you have a kind and gentle word to give You help someone find beauty in this precious life we live. For happiness brings happiness, and loving ways bring love, And giving is the treasure that contentment is made of. We started the season in a whole different look with a lot of new faces in the line-up apart from the 1984 Section I Championship team. This year's team named three All-conference selections to the HVL: seniors, Sean Kelley and Scott Behrns, and sophomore, Dane Head. This team left a stepping stone of underclassmen ex- perience that will leave an awesome team to deal with in the future of K-M football. We ended the regular season with a 4-4 record and then lost to Dover-Eyota in playoff competition. The trip included travels through the Badlands, Black Hills, Bighorn Mountains, Yellowstone National Park, and the Grant Tetons National Park. The excursion contained many beautiful sights, such as Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave, Devils Tower, Old Faithful, and the Grand Tetons overlook- ing the beautiful Jenny Lake. These seven dedicated naturalists survived ten days in the wilderness battling the weather, bugs, badgers, and their own cooking. Even after ten days away from their homeland they still wanted to explore more caves and climb more mountains, except the exhausted chaperones were surprisingly against it. On June 17th the school van journied back home with seven weary students whose minds were full of discovery and delight. -Kevin Kearney Wearing their shades, the group poses with the beautiful Teton Mountains be- hind them. Looks like Noelle and Rhonda are having a good time! This year the K-M FHA was again involved in many activities. Some of the fundraisers included the Mr. Leggs dance in the fall, the Sadie Hawkin's dance in the spring, and also a Rock-A-Thon in which the members received pledges from various people and rocked away from late at night until early in the morning. Another activity the FHA was involved in was Santa Anonymous. This is a community activity in which the FHA members go to various stores in Kasson and pick out toys, clothing, etc. for needy families in the Kasson-Mantor- ville area. At the district meeting this year, over half of the members participated by giving an AAE, an action activity event. An AAE is like a demonstration speech. Everyone who partici- pated did well, but Denise Holecek, Lisa Dibble, Kathy Ness, Sherri Ness, Gena Hettervig, Nancy Jones and Heidi Nannestad all received gold ratings and then went on to the state meeting, where Denise and Lisa received gold ratings, and Kathy, Sherri, Gena, Nancy, and Heidi all received silver ratings.
