The 1982 Cross Country team consisted of: (front row) Glennys Mensing, Mary Jo Peterson, Kay Schrafel, Lisa Dibble, (back row) Tom Besch, Steve Blatti, Bill Thomp- son, and Francisco Astorino. Bill Thompson was named All Conference for the 1982 season. Cross Country ’82 was probably the “most Kraziest” year Kasson’s ever experienced. We teamed with Byron to become one. This mass of racey runners consumed a full season of exhilarat- ing excitement such as: Tron Run (run with walkie talkies), Godfa- ther’s Run (a run of all runs, to Godfather’s of course, and I shouldn’t have to explain what happened at Godfather’s), Otto’s Run (sprint to Otto’s Bakery on Fridays), Visit Run (visit houses of runner friends), LSD (long slow distance), we went swimming at a fellow runner’s house, and, oh yes, we ran in meets too! We ended the season with Awards Night. Awards: Unsung hero-Mary Jo. The Unsung Hero award is for the person who keeps going but never gets there. Captains, Most Improved, Most dedicated thin clad, Ott’s award (which is an apron). Button: My pace or yours. Ending practice every night, we engaged in a tedious game of ZIP. It’s played with 3 soccer balls and cones as goals. There were 3 ruis: 1. no hands, 2. no boundaries, and no one could ever forget the third rule. Yes, a season to be remembered, to be cherished, and to be missed. Thanks Byron! “My pace or yours” button: Glennys Unsung Hero: Mary Jo Otto’s run apron: Lisa Captains Kay and Bill Most dedicated thin clad: Kay and Bill — Kay Schrafel, Captain K-M BYRON CROSS The 1982-83 Cross Country season was coached by Mike Cabaya and Chuck Juhnky. The team of 4 boys and 4 girls practiced in Byron with the Byron Cross Country team. One practice was an 8 Vi mile run which ended at Godfather’s pizza in Rochester. Neither boys or girls had enough runners to place as full teams, but a better turnout is expected next year. The best boy’s three mile time was my own of 17:40 and the best girl’s 2 mile time was Lisa Dibble with a time of 14:27. —- Bill Thompson, Captain
