GRADUATION LAMENT Today's the day I graduate; To this school I come no more. This my goal of the past twelve years, is what I've been waiting for. The days were laced with fun and games Along with my growing up: I've developed a personality— I've had to measure up; Not only on tests and with teachers— I had to make it with my peers. And now that struggle is over, I feel like shedding tears. I'm going to miss my classmates And the teachers' constant calls I'm going to miss the notes and such We passed along the halls. With the diploma comes a sad thought: My adolescent years are gone— Now I must face reality. — Maranda Conley Connie unger Vernon Vanasse Mark Unger Brian West Rick Unger Deborah Westphal 36 ’ UI3H111313M Ob KOM€T Y£dRBOOK 9TAH £ A } The yearbook staff put an all-out effort to raise money through selling photos (pictured top left), sponsoring several sock-hops of which the D.J.'s from KWWK, Mark Vail and Pat O'Neal (pictured above) provided the mu- sic entertainment for the Junior and Senior High Students. The following were voted by the team to be named outstanding players—Kevin Behrns, Most Valuable Linesman; Keith Ness, Most Valuable Back; Jon Berge, Most Improved Player; Gary Dorschner, Most Valuable Player. The team con- sisted entirely of underclassmen, headed by cap- tain Diane Jensen, a Junior. Freshmen Jody Hughes and Sherri Vrieze started for varsity this year and represent a young team of returning vet- erans for a more experienced team next season. Jody Hughes was elected to the HVL All-Confer- ence volleyball team. The Komets didn't rank high in conference competition but they do have a young, strong team of veterans returning. Coach- ing the volleyball teams this year were Nancy Rud, Head, and Renee Berg. With good coaching and the experienced players returning, team spirit and school support should be high. There were seven participating on the team with five of the letterwomen returning. This is a good indication of a strong team for next season. The best 2-mile times for the 1976 season were recorded by Julie Miller, with a 12:41, Mary O'Dea, with a 12:50, and Linda Wendler, with a time of 13:02. The boys didn't do as well in the '76 season as far as HVL standing, but did do well in the K-M Jaycee and Mayo Invitational meets. Coach Peter- son named senior Brad Stellmaker as Most Im- proved Player of the Year. The season started with a young inexperienced squad, but the upcoming season looks bright with several returning people. Promising Freshman, Billy Rosen, has the edge on Senior Brad Stellmaker at the Kasson-Mantorville Jaycee Invitational meet.
