Girls Volleyball The K-M volleyball team entered into its first inter- scholastic competition this year. The varsity squad tied with Stewartville for third place in the HVL conference, with an overall win-loss record of 3-5. B-Squad finished with a 2-6 record. Coach Prorok stated, In terms of win versus losses, the girl's first season of interscholastic volleyball competition may not be termed a huge suc- cess, but each individual, as well as the team as a whole, improved greatly. Cagers Carry On Winning The KoMets started their season rolling with a win over D.C. K-M was not picked as a favorite to repeat as HVL Champs, but as the season continued, the KoMets proved to be a well balanced team. K-M outlived the predictions by tying with Lake City for the HVL title. They ended their season with a 14-3 record in spite of the tough, aggressive competition in the HVL league. K-M, seeded number two, made it to District III finals by defeating Dover-Eyota and Dodge Center before falling to number one seeded Winona-Cotter. The KoMets finished the season with an over-all record of 19-4. The KoMets are coached by Mr. Bill Heitkamp and assisted by Mr. Vern Huse. Steve Miller had the highest field goal average for the season with 52% and Marlin Fay was second with 51%. Gary Dorschner and Jim Gardner tied in free throw percentage with 81. The leading scorers were Nev Corlett and Gardner with averages of 19.8 and 13.6 respectively. Lee Meyer had the most assists for one season with 123. Al Hodge had the most rebounds with 151 and Gardner was second with 150. Corlett had the most recoveries with 163. He was also honored with the season high of four technical fouls.
