First year Coach Beth Prorok, aided by Asst. Coach Kris Herbst, led the KoMets into the first season of interscholastic competition. A, B, and C teams were established and 10 conferance games were scheduled. The KoMets finished conference play with a 9-1 re- cord, putting them in a tie with Plainview for the HVL title. The 7th and 8th graders and the B-squad also had a fine season, with a record of 4-1 and 9-1 respectively. The team went on to District play, which ended in victory as the girls defeated Dover—Eyota, St. Charles, and Plainview for the Dist. Ill title. The KoMets then became the first K-M basketball team to go to State when they defeated Alden-Conger for the Region I title. The KoMets beat Braham in the quarterfinals of state, but fell to the fast, high-scoring, more ex- perienced Glencoe team (eventually state champs).
